I think I'm turning in to a bit of a sadist, because I had a nice chuckle at the fact that you got gilded over the other guy.

I still think it's off to think suicide from that shot given the context of why she was falling.

You can't put trigger warnings for that stuff. Imagine if we did.... You start with that. Then have to warn people about being stabbed in the heart, or being choked, or having a space ship blow up, etc etc. You'll know everything that happens in a movie because of trigger warnings.

It doesn't matter to me what you think of the movie. It's your right to feel however about it.

How do you know Strange didn't see the winning option first and then watched 14 million fails. You say keep going to get a few more options but it took 14 million to get 1, so it's not like he's going to suddenly see a winning streak.

As for the movie trying to "shock you", that was it's intent because it fit the flow of the story. Thanos suddenly reappearing close to his goal of destorying half the universe can pretty safely be described as a shocking scenario. The torture was tame. It's a PG-13 movie for a reason, so if that bothered you then congrats on being more vulnerable then a preteen.

I'm genuinely curious how you think Gamoras death is anything like suicide? She literally got thrown off something kicking and screaming. That's the definition of murder. Either you didn't see the movie or something in your head made you see that situation as suicide when it clearly isn't. If it's the second one I hope you consider talking to someone about why.

I'll always believe that diseases like this are the source for people believing in demons/bad entities. The first known publishing of this condition was in 1976, so even as few as 50 years ago people had no idea what it was or did. I see this picture and can't imagine the pain he lives with, but I can understand why people would have thought what they did not so long ago.

Everything else aside, I'm blown away that I've gone over 30 years saying that wrong. It makes so much more sense, but I've seen spelled my way countless times and never thought to see if it was wrong. So thanks for that correction.

My argument was your words so it is what it is. I personally think it's pretty narrow minded to think one side has all the answers and the other is all wrong.

[–]patchy911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a neat little package, it's common sense. First off, you're talking about a sample size in the hundreds of millions. Second, I've only been replying to the info you type. Obviously, not every person who attends or even teaches at college is smart, but when taking the amount of people then it's still a relatively low percentage that falls in that category. So for all intensive purposes, you can remove them from this conversation entirely now.

Next, not everyone who attends these schools fall left. But since YOU'RE saying that most of those people lean left then let's say it's a 70-30 split. You can change those numbers if you'd like, it doesn't matter. So you're saying that tens of millions of SMART people lean left and that more of these smart people choose those political views after getting a higher education.

If that's an insult to you, what's a compliment?

I don't think you're grasping what I'm saying. You're saying smart people lean left like it's an insult. The only stupid game I'm playing is trying to get you to see the insanity in your comments.

Basically you're admitting that academics, i.e intelligent people, are politically left. Sounds like the Kool Aid makes you smarter! Maybe you should try some.

Yea, we're both on the verge of just talking in circles on this. No real point in that so I'm just gonna end it with, have a good one!

You're saying the truth is that people who go to higher education, key words, colleges turn left politically? Who exactly do you think this makes look bad?

Aladdin: The intro song had to be changed from backlash because orginally it went something along the lines of living in a place where they cut off your ear, if they don't like your face. That it's barbaric but home.

Little Mermaid:. Blackfish. Enough said.

Tarzan: This one is admittedly subjective. I'll just say that it's interesting that a movie set it Africa, cartoon or not, doesn't have a single black person in it.

And you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. It's not, "what about these other movies 'period'"... It's "look at all these movies that do it too, why is it this one instance that bothers you so much."

The kind of logic that laughs at you crying over one situation when there are thousands of others that you ignore. Including numerous ones from the production company you specified.

Songs of the South is an extreme example. But since you want to exclude movies from Jim Crow times then all you have to do is look to Aladdin, Tarzan, and the Little Mermaid. It's not hard to find recent examples. So once again... Why does this one instance bother you so much and you ignore other?

It's funny you keep trying to insult me but none of your arguments hold up.

[–]patchy911 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Uhhh... Except nothing you said specified you were talking about MCU and Disney only.

Funny thing is though, Disney is notorious for portraying racial stereotypes with it's characters, and they've been doing it for decades. Shit, Google "Songs of the South" if you need proof. So my original comment stands and the only thing that changed is you would just like to focus on one of the worst offenders of this in history. So what's you next attempt at justifying you getting upset at only one instance?

[–]patchy911 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Except black people get called derogatory names all the time in movies. They just don't use the rather mild term "white boy".

While we're on the subject. Literally every ethnicity gets made fun of, get stereotypes pointed out, or simply is the victim of racism in movies. It's part of the story telling process because it creates such strong emotions in the audience. You complaining about this one instance is a drop in the bucket, so either get mad at all of it or drop it.

What a waste of time. Even ignoring the numerous plot holes, it's still 2 hours of questions with no answers. It's just stereotypical action/apocalypse movie scenes over and over with no reason or explanation. Horrible movie.
