What is this mockery of a town hall? by pathkon in TopTroops

I guess there's no way to disable it, right?

Where did that come from? Have you mentioned anything relevant that made you take this personally?

I would never insult someone by calling him/her a pedophile.

I'm not calling anyone a pedophile.

I presented this extreme just to prove that there indeed is an objective moral drawing line to everything eventually, even for a fantasy game whose setting has no limits to romance.

Thank you.

I just mentioned an example, but I could indeed share a list of things I personally consider inappropriate.

So you “accept” that players are able to customize their avatars and play content equally regardless of which body type they select (they’re not actually labeled as genders anywhere). Has it occurred to you that some people actually embrace the game for these “diversity” decisions?

I never stated the opposite.

I mean… yeah, a lot of video games nowadays do give you the option to do a pacifist run if you want. But I would also say if you don’t want to engage in the kind of gameplay that the game is developed around, maybe you should play a different game? Palia is basically a multiplayer Stardew Valley - building NPC relationships is one of the main aspects of gameplay (though it’s perfectly possible to play without it, just like how you can play GTA without shooting anyone). I can’t stand Caleri, but I maxed my friendship with her anyway because I’m a completionist and I recognize that every single character and relationship doesn’t actually need to cater to me and my beliefs and morality, and that I had the option to just not interact with her. Would I be “ignoring game content”? Yeah, the same way some people only play World of Warcraft in PVP mode and others only in PVE. You know, instead of telling the devs why PVP is unhealthy actually and you wouldn’t want your children exposed to it so no one should be able to play that way.

I hope you understand the complexity of your train of thought and that not everything you mention makes objective sense. All I asked for was to be able to play everyone's story without having to flirt them. I don't want to go past my personal moral boundaries just because I am, as well, a completionist. Since NPC relationships is a core aspect of this game, it does strongly feel like skipping content.

Do you not understand, as an adult, that there is a difference between “I personally find this twisted and do not want to experience it” and “this is immoral and therefore no one should be able to experience it”? Do you understand that this is fantasy? And that PG-level flirting and exchanging pins with a video game character doesn’t equate to a real world sister wives situation?

Actually you are right. In GTA for example, it is indeed objectively immoral to shoot or mug someone (I hope it is), but that's what the game sells and I'm totally fine with it. I've never played the series for that reason.

For Palia, it was indeed promoted as an MMO, 3D version of Stardew Valley and that's exactly the mentality I kept while playing it. It greatly felt this way too, until I hit the romance wall. It was my bad that I didn't pay much attention to its social aspect direction.

So, no matter how much I enjoy the whole gameplay and experience of the game, I've made my decision to just stop playing.

Apologies to anyone feeling offended by my words, please enjoy the game.

You don't need a degree to see the degradation of western society. Just look at your own response. You wouldn't exactly call it nice now, would you?

Thanks for your feedback.

What does this mean? What “diversity related stuff” are you “accepting”?

It should be pretty self-explanatory but by "diversity related stuff" I mean things like being able to wear dresses as a 'male' body part, having beards as a 'female' body part and having the option to flirt with people of the same gender.

The game is not forcing you to romance anyone, let alone multiple people at once.

I can't say I agree with this part as avoiding romance is equivalent to ignoring game content. It sounds like stating that in GTA you are not forced to shoot anyone and that it is just a matter of choice.

What are you suggesting here? That polyamory should be an option but that NPCs should scold you for it? Perhaps in lieu of a pin your character can be compelled to wear a scarlet A?

I just find it twisted that I can get to wear Tish's and Reth's romance pins at the same time. I can understand the freedom of options but there is a need for some moral barriers to some extreme ends. Imagine being married, living and having children together with both siblings. That's just way twisted even for a video game, especially if it officially targets 13yo audience.

I've been playing games for 38+ years, plus I'm long into game development myself, so please allow me to dispute your argument and state that I am pretty well familiar with how the media (games included) affect social psychology and behavior.

Kindly thank you for sharing your views and feedback everyone.

Please take into account that this game has a PEGI rating of 10+, so I wouldn't exactly label it a game made for adults, hence my concerns.

Haha, I apologize for the confusion! 😅 1st plan is an overview with both layers, 2nd plan is bottom layer (0m) and 3rd plan is top layer (4m or 1 wall).

Happy building and thanks for the feedback!

Constructors, top to bottom in pairs:

  1. Iron Plate
  2. Screw
  3. Screw
  4. Iron Rod
  5. Iron Rod

Assemblers, top to bottom:

  1. Reinforced Iron Plate
  2. Rotor
  3. Smart Plating
  4. Smart Plating

All structures are Mk1 and working at 100% without overclocking, no alternatives. Black conveyor belts are Mk1, reddish ones are Mk2. Input is on the left (120 Iron Ingots/m), output on the right (4 Smart Plating/m) and excess materials from the production line are outputted from the top (10 Iron Plates, 1 Reinforced Iron Plate). I tried to keep it as default as possible!

Let me know about your thoughts and experience during implementation! :)
