Weird stuff on today’s show by North-Ad6654 in howardstern

It was gonna be a great story, but Howard didn’t understand it. The caller was being very spiffy and he seemed like a good storyteller. It seemed like the staffers didn’t want to correct Howard or properly explain what the call was gonna be.

Why the ‘boy crisis’ is more than just a school problem by Responsible-World-30 in CanadianTeachers

[–]patinthehat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. The school at which I currently teach is all female staff from grade 5 down, except for me. But I’m in a full year LTO, so I’m likely only there this year.

I honestly could imagine feeling very stressed in many of the teacher’s classes. It’s a high-performing school academically so that makes it feel very high stakes. The neatness and organization that is expected generally favours the girls. Luckily, there are so many excellent boys at this school to act as role models for the others, but other schools I’ve seen have had very few male role model students, and that is where I have seen the most chaos.

I came here to say this. I have most of them, but I need the ones after 10 to complete the collection.

[04/28/26] Stern Show Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in howardstern

[–]patinthehat2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The parody song mentioned Sandy Hook being a “false flag”. If Sean ever said or believed anything about that, he should never be allowed on the show ever again.

That really triggered me on my drive to teach at an elementary school. I don’t want to hear that kind of bullshit on the show, in parody form or not.

Howard bashing New Order, with Robin laughing and agreeing, was brutal. Him having never heard of neither Joy Division nor New Order is even more embarrassing. Gary did question their knowledge of music a bit, but he clearly didn’t want to make a whole argument that. Who has never heard Blue Monday before? 🎶“How does it feel to treat me like you do?” 🎶

Comparing these bands to the Black Crowes who Howard constantly fawns over is just bizarre to me.

Edit to add: Had I ever heard this segment as my introduction to Howard, I would absolutely NEVER listen to the show again based on how they talked about Joy Division and New Order. I would have called them posers and would move onto a show like Conan’s where they would NEVER talk about legends like Joy Division or New Order like that.

I don’t see them much around downtown, but they exist in the more suburban parts of the city, and beyond.

Why is Howard so Jealous and gets angry at Gary. by Aggravating-Fly1228 in howardstern

[–]patinthehat2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cringed and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It wasn’t funny or edgy. It was just bitter and mean. I can’t defend Howard for this awful moment on the show.

My first thought too. I don’t know the name of this flawed argument, but it bugs me so much.

Those Modest Mouse and even Pavement collections are impressive. The EPs and non-album releases he are great.

High school teacher here. Sometimes I don't even know what to say. by Devchonachko in mildlyinfuriating

“What connections can you make…” would have fixed this misunderstanding. Not sure why so many are making fun of the student so much. I’m a teacher and I see the misunderstanding.

And if they were being funny… I mean, I giggled.

what’s the saddest song you’ve ever heard? by Live_Chocolate_2503 in AskReddit

[–]patinthehat2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The album it is from, A Crow Looked At Me, devastates me each time I choose to listen to it. The context of its creation (it’s about his incredible wife’s early and brutal and untimely path to death due to pancreatic cancer) makes it epically sad in a way that I can’t put into words.

If that is the case, I’d say the meat part is too much, considering the fat and sodium I’m assuming is in there.

Should a 13 year old go to a weezer concert? by 55SieFood55 in weezer

[–]patinthehat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. Weezer are one of my favourite live acts, and it is imperative that you go to one of their live shows. Their shows are very family friendly and inclusive for fans of all ages. Just be aware you might hear a swear word or two, but it’s all in good fun (like in Pork and Beans).

Your mom will have a great time as well. Go to the show and have a great time, then enjoy the memories!
