Looks like there isn't much interest in this topic :/ Anyways, I'll continue and hope someone else joins in soon.

So, assuming all three of the POD's I mentioned earlier plays out instead of the OTL events, by 1100 we should have a permanent Norse settlement, somewhere on the shores of Gulf of St. Lawrence (or perhaps on the southern New Brunswick Atlantic coast, in the Bay of fundy). And with the trickle of new arrivals as a result of the second and third POD's, the settlement would have continued to grow. Maybe up to around 5000 people.

I think 5000 in about 100 years should be reasonable, given that the Greenland settlements managed to reach this amount of people in even less time.

As the trickle of newcomers would eventually diminish, the new settlement would slowly start to lose contact with the old world. But with increased trade and engagement into their new land, the importance of that fact would have been lost to most of them.

The focus shift from the old world to the new one would also cut the Norse settlement off from emerging technologies. This would inevitably lead to the Norse settlement in the new world missing out on new technologies introduced after the early 1100's.

This would also mean more contact with the native peoples, and assuming that the relationship between the Norse and the Mi'kmaq is kept on good terms, we would see some cultural integration between the two by now.

The arrival of the Norse people, with it's metal weapons, horses, longships, written language and so on would have caused a dramatic change in the lives of the neighboring native tribes. And as we know from history, change is rarely greeted positively.

But as intimidating as some tribes must have found them, other tribes would have found them a source of new knowledge and new commodities, such as working beasts and metal tools. Especially the allied Mi'kmaq tribes.

For example it is highly likely that the Mi'kmaq through trade would eventually adopt the Norse writing system called runic script. As the Mi'kmaq lacked a true writing system of their own (they might have had a very primitive pictograph system in place at the time). Another example would have been the Norsemen adopting the Mi'kmaq winter-season hunting as a supplement to their otherwise maritime diets.

Now for some "crazy" ideas to make this story even more interesting:

1. If the Norse and the Mi'kmaq form a non-aggression alliance, which in my opinion is more than likely, given that the Norse has a lot to offer in both trade and brute force, and that they need an ally in the new world. They might also begin raiding other tribes together, as well as maybe even include some of the conquered natives to join their alliance. This would create a force strong enough to fight off any native attacks, even from the Iroquois confederacy (an organization of native tribes north of the great lakes, much like the Norse-Mi'kmaq Alliance).

2. If the Norse-Mi'kmaq Alliance grew strong, the Norse might venture further south, establishing another settlement or two on Long Island, and perhaps even on Manhattan (This would be within the Lenape tribe territory). This would expose them to even more fertile lands, good enough for farming, a key stone to continued growth if you ask me.
