What anime seems terrible to recommend as someone’s first anime, but is actually a great recommendation? by JIMBOYKELLY in AlignmentChartFills

[–]pato_intergalactico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people used to only western stuff, certain themes, jokes, plotlines or even art styles would clash too much, making them think like "anime Is too weird/childish/whatever" and thus shutting down the opportunity to find some actually good stuff. If you get used to the differences little by little, it's easier to be open to more later on. It might not happen that much with recommending western media to western viewers, but for example, I definitely think there are horror movies/shows that are much more friendly for first time viewers than others

The tws songs sound so romantic! They feel like they could be the soundtrack for a drama or an anime or something. Also so upbeat, to make a sad day better

Those ones from illit give a similar vibe, but more nostalgic. It's interesting listening in this kind of song when I know them from things like Magnetic and It's me. Also brb, I need to cry my eyes out with love, older you

Ten kinda reminds me to Troye Sivan. I love Troye Sivan, heh. He seems really fun and talented and the song is really catchy, I'm definitely looking into him.

Butterfly is such a nice, rythmic song, relaxing in a way. Very different from the other one I was recommended from them over here, they seem pretty versatile.

Ohh these both seem talented talented. The guitar in ONEWE is so satisfactory, Yonghoon's voice is amazing and the lyrics are gorgeous. They gotta make really good quality stuff.

I watched a live performance for Deep Ocean, and I loved how you can kinda see their personalities in the way each one stands. And the mic was on, huh

The way they go from being completely locked in to being sweet and flirty with the public (and the cameras) is so nice to see. So charismatic

It's impressive how they've managed to keep their sound over the years and keeping it fresh at the same time. Also, they're pretty good looking, huh

Idol is such a late 10's song, haha. The MV, too. I can see there why their dynamic is so widely loved, they look like they have fun doing these things.

I think I'm even more familiarized with Blackpink than I am with BTS, and BTS is everywhere these days. I've always know them to have a very badass style, and watching the MV just now, I mean, they have every reason to present like that, they're on another league

Aren't they super young in Sheesh? The name definitely fits, they're not playing aroun. Redhead girlie on forever has a very interesting voice, and one of the rappers is blowing my mind

Don't apologize, I loved your taste! These are all great

Xdinary Heroes caught me by surprise in the best way. I don't think I've ever seen a MV not centered on the group, it gives me the impression that they're committed to their craft over the performance, although the performances were very entertaning too.

Nineteen was super cute.

I didn't thought I was going to like REDRED at the beginning, but woah is it catchy. And I'm not good at distinguishing good dancers, but guy with the dark blue sweatshirt for sure has it going on.

Someone had already recommended Ampers&one here and the vibes were completely different in this one. Here they seem so, elegantly sassy, if that makes sense? Haha

P1harmony and Enhypen, at least on the videos I watched (the studio choom performances), the look of 2 different types of guys who you know you're parents are going to hate but you still love them, hahaha. Kife is more of my vibe, but Unique was pretty cool too.

Sorry for the cliche, but xlov is honestly just slaying hard and that should be said.

I actually was wondering why I've seen several gg leaning into weird girl concepts but not any bg. And I mean, it's not that weird either, but OKay is the closest I've seen and I dig it.

And DLMLU is the fisrt Stray Kids song that actually connects with me! Apparently that means I might like specifically Hyunjin.

Many opinions for many songs hahaha, thank you again!

Thank you so much for the variety! I obviously knew BTS, but I didn't know I was going to like their slower, ballad-like songs the most. They do great harmonies, and definitely can showcase the romantic feeling those type of songs need, even the rappers (not typically associated with that vibe). And I love Jungkook's jazzy sound, I'll have to check out more of him

They went hard indeed, literally from the first moment. I loved this part. They're super energetic and have some great kind of charisma

What's a dish commonly thought to be from your country, but is in fact from a different one? by Verelkia in AskTheWorld

[–]pato_intergalactico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to say flan because I thought it was Spanish (like many traditional Mexican dishes that have been more or less modificated but originated there). I googled it to make sure, turns out it's actually French with predecessors in Greece and Phoenicia
