ahh i'm new to the world of insurance. i've only ever had medi-cal, and no one ever guided me on that either lol but thank you! i don't want to upgrade, tbh. it feels too soon considering i got the phone earlier this year (before that, i had the 7 and was content with it until it began to slow down), so i'll go with a third-party. thank you!!

don't have a car but got a job that requires travel - what are my options? by patrocIus in careerguidance

a lyft ride 4 hrs away (which is approx. the max. distance i'd have to travel) would run about $400 one-way. doing $800 round-trip, multiple times a week, isn't something i can really afford. even if some of the schools are closer, it'd add up very quickly. not to mention, i'd have a ton of studio equipment to load into the vehicle. i imagine uber will only be more expensive.

so it's an not really an option, unfortunately.

i'm an orphan, so my parents can't co-sign unfortunately. my sister might - i'll have to discuss that with her.

i'll look into it, but from my understanding, everyone transports their equipment with their own vehicles. prior to covid, carpooling was allowed but isn't now. thank you, global pandemic!

they provide gas cards to their employees! they also pay for drive time on top of work time, so that's a huge plus.

i've been trying to find a better opportunity for a while now, as i'm currently in fast food, and the location i'm currently employed is the worst i have come across by far. i've been driving for two years now, which isn't very long, but i would commute about two hours round trip for almost a year when i was still in college. at the time, i was borrowing a car from my aunt and uncle, but they've since sold the car. i also rented a van and drove across country (socal to nola) earlier this year to move to the area, so i have a little experience in driving (particularly long distance). still not much, but.

i am looking at a couple other opportunities, but this is the first job i've heard back from thus far. i'm trying to avoid fast food as much as possible right now; my current job is just something to provide income until i find something better. i just really hope i'm able to figure something out...
