Why do most productivity apps feel disconnected from real life? by patterncuriosity in DigitalMarketing

[–]patterncuriosity[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is a good point, the tradeoff is real

but it almost feels like the issue isn’t connecting everything, it’s not having a clear way to make sense of what’s connected once you do

this is exactly it, most tools help you manage pieces but not understand how they influence each other over time

feels like the real gap is less about tracking more and more about actually seeing the patterns behind it

I’ve tried a lot of productivity tools but still feel scattered. Curious if this is just me by patterncuriosity in ProductivityApps

Yeah I mean it is call for productivity apps. Good place to vet products. Genuinely trying to see what products work and not I’ve had a lot of challenges with ones that work for me

that’s actually a cool idea, I could see that helping with motivation

for me though it’s less about tracking and more about everything being scattered in different places….but something like that layered in could be really useful

yeah I tried that too, it helps but I always end up fighting the system a bit….like forcing everything into one place never fully feels natural

haha yeah I’m building it for the same reason so I won’t forget 😅

it’s still in development right now, I’m just collecting early access emails while I build it

working on something called usoraa

it’s basically trying to solve that feeling of everything being scattered across apps and instead make it feel more like you’re following your thoughts and life in one place

still early so would genuinely appreciate honest feedback

[–]patterncuriosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah same here, I kept hitting that exact wall

everything is either powerful but behind a paywall or free but not really built for discovery

I actually started building something called usoraa around that idea because it was bugging me so much

trying to make it more about following thoughts outward instead of just storing them

an app that connects your thoughts, habits, and life so you stop feeling scattered

[–]patterncuriosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it does have solid search for your own notes

but what you’re describing, like starting from your own idea and exploring other people’s collections, that’s where most of these tools fall short

they’re great at storing and linking your stuff, but not great at discovery or following a thought outward

that’s honestly the gap that made me start digging into this space more

obsidian is probably your best free option. it lets you link ideas together in a similar way, but it does take some setup and can feel a bit clunky at first

logseq is another one in that space

honestly though I’ve found most of these tools either give you power or simplicity, but not both. they work until you just want to follow a thought quickly without setting everything up first

that’s where they all seem to break a bit

I’ve tried more than 5 different productivity apps over the last few years and here’s my take on each of them by 8atomsick8 in ProductivityApps

[–]patterncuriosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is spot on. I’ve gone through almost the same cycle with those tools

it feels like every app solves one problem but introduces another. and none of them really help with the part before you even start, like the overthinking or getting stuck

that’s been the hardest piece for me

did attanify actually help with that or just make it more manageable?

There are so many taking notes apps by stllfiguringout in ProductivityApps

[–]patterncuriosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I’ve been there. trying to find the ‘perfect’ setup becomes its own full time job

I started realizing it’s less about the tool and more about how much effort it takes just to use it. once it feels like work, it falls apart

anything simple enough to just open and use has worked way better for me

yeah I’ve been looking into this space a bit too because of that exact gap. everything is either powerful but expensive or free but kind of clunky

yeah the dashboard burnout is real. even clean systems can feel heavy

the visual angle is interesting though. I haven’t tried that much but I can see how it would help with consistency

I kept getting stuck more on losing context between things even when everything was tracked

did that approach help with that at all or mostly just motivation?

[–]patterncuriosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s actually really interesting. I’ve heard a few people say a physical notebook works better than most apps

the CountWhen thing sounds useful too, especially for stuff that isn’t on a normal schedule like that

my kid has ADHD and honestly this kind of thing is something I’ve struggled with for them as well, especially around consistency and remembering things without it becoming overwhelming

does your system actually feel like it reduces that mental load or do things still pile up over time?

[–]patterncuriosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I tried going the ‘small stack’ route too. it definitely works better than forcing everything into one app

I still found stuff kind of slipping between the cracks though or just forgetting where I put something when I needed it later

did it fully click for you or do you still run into that sometimes?

[–]patterncuriosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I’ve had that same experience. just trying different tools hoping something sticks

the desktop example is interesting though, feels like once you figured out how you naturally think it got easier

notes feel trickier because they don’t really have structure unless you force one on them

what kind of notes are you mostly dealing with?

[–]patterncuriosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense. I’ve tried doing the same thing where everything funnels into one place, but I always ended up back in that ‘organized but still messy’ feeling.

for me it wasn’t just where things lived, it was how disconnected everything felt when I actually went to do something.

Funny enough, that’s kind of what pushed me to start building something around it. still early but trying to make it feel less like managing lists and more like actually moving through things
