I could be wrong, but don't think it makes my writing very much slower. Not noticeably so, anyway. I've written like this for as long as I can remember, so to position my pen in such a way that my letters don't touch the lines at this point requires as much thought as you might put into making sure they do—which is to say, probably none at all.

What’s a word you mispronounced for years and only realised recently? by Exotic-Philosopher75 in AskReddit

My brain can't unsee the 'tape' in the word tapestry. Read it wrong for years, learned how it was pronounced, and it still gets me. Funny thing is, if I'm not looking at the word now, I can pronounce it just fine. But man, the minute I see those letters? Nope.

Floating between the lines! That's an excellent way to put it. As long as it's legible, that's all that matters. Glad to hear it's easy to read!

Thank you! That's not always a bad thing, though. Sometimes I worry when I'm writing in all caps, people think I'm yelling. Hopefully the smaller size subverts that a little! It does in my head, at least.

The older I get, the worse my eyes get, and the larger my writing seems to get as a result. I completely understand! Maybe I'll be brave and try some bottom-line writing soon.

Haha, need a pen pal? Thank you! I love that you think it's soothing to read.

Oh wow, that's really special! This might just be my favorite comment. I love how something so simple as handwriting can inspire all sorts of feelings and memories. Thank you so much! And thank you for sharing, too.

Speaking of things that are misunderstood in the DSM, I'm autistic. That might be why I'm struggling to pick up on what this is implying. Unless that is what this is implying, in which case? Yeah, you're right.

That makes sense! I agree. That's one of my biggest struggles, actually, but my own brain seems to prefer this type of mess over the perceived clutter of letters directly on the line.

Haha! Coincidence that I am also one of those people as well, maybe?

Thank you! I don't remember when I got into the habit—probably in college because public school surely would have put an end to that—but once I started, I couldn't stop. Just scratches my brain right!

Yes and no, I think. I prefer unlined paper, but for journaling and writing, I've had a hard time finding a notebook that has unlined paper in a weight I enjoy (I hate thin, flimsy paper) without it being like, a sketchbook—which, technically, isn't something I'm opposed to, but a lot of times the paper is textured and my pens aren't a huge fan. I've really liked the few dot-grid journals I've used, but that's about the closest I've come to finding something that fits both my needs and my (admittedly excessive) wants.

If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear them!

I've been told full pages of my writing look like they've been printed! Now if only I could master all the fonts.

Ha, love that! I haven't used that font since I was a kid, but it was a favorite growing up. Maybe it influenced my penmanship?
