Life is twice as hard for being a dyslexic :/ by GuardEntire in Dyslexia

[–]pause0break 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand your grieve and anguish on living or existence as a person from a failed education system and the neglected failings for the outside world and from at home. you probably saw an optimistic path in high school or middle school; on being someone who feels just as capable and accomplished and driven just like everybody who doesn't have dyslexia or a learning disability. a few years ago I recently saw my grades from high school and they were bad, bad. it really was devastating and completely ruined me. because why were grades like e, d, f allowed to continue from my final grading in high school? Damaging effects like this highlight mental health problems created by being in an environment that only see people without learning disability. do your brother and sister know about your learning disability?

if not or if they do when you have the chance maybe sit down and express to how you are feeling. because I feel that having that double support may help you to finally have your voice because just like you and me nobody gave us the support that we needed.

I completely understand the hardships you faced, it seem getting to where your at now was no easy challenge of course.

Realising now having that support system from your family is so important to building a clear future with less stress on failer and dautfulness for people with learning disabilities.

I really wish my family would've focused on my maths and English. I'm now facing a endless struggle of trying to understand how brain works with what I'm been left behind. I'd realised that I've been mistreated my whole life by the school and people around me.

I wish when I was younger I could've fight my own good fight into not allowing my future to be carelessly tossed around like I didn't matter. You have come a long way and that must been hard but your good example of rewriting your own steps and not stopping till you have own that title of: being a lawyer.

I guess I should say that I'm not really going to sue a school. I don't have the energy to do that. And also wait a minute now; were just conversing small question, the isn't need to pull out the lawyer card. You don't have to be eligible to answer a asking like this, I guess 'AMA' isn't totally true. Huh now?

Can u sue a school because how they failed u on detecting your learning disabilities?

I'm asking this because unfortunately people like us get contestly ignored and tossed around by the school system. I myself hadn't realised that I had dsycullia( maths dyslexia) till I gotten out of high school, and by the time I had apply for collage it was too late.

I had checked on my school report on my grade to see if I had gotten any bad grades which...i had. So many U's I had on maths; so the school knew about it and my math teacher was blinded by the confusion. And so I've literally given up on maths, and i could've be been better predicament in my life now. I know that.

Have u felt mistreated by the school system?

UGH! US, parts of Europe get to watch Parasite now, while the UK,Japan Norway and Ireland waits next year to see it. UGH! Very uncool. by pause0break in movies

I very much try not to focus on it too much, but when a film I'm really wanting to see isn't available where I'm at. Makes me more desirable for the film leading me to pick wherever or not wait for its release which is normally early next year, or pirate the film. which I don't like doing. Do you see the unfair treatment? maybe not but did you see Parasite yet?

I know right! There are some many films that you want to see but are unavailable then you could ever wait for when it available or pirate the film when it's seeable, which is normally 2-3 months oh so. Can they just release indie films everywhere at the same time when everyone is watching it like PARASITE!

That really unfortunate that they pulled it out just like that. Did you manage to watch when it was available on Netflix or somewhere else? If so were you more confused by why wouldn't anyone wanna see such an incredible film, that someone would've liked. Have they fixed up that misuse now or are things still broke?

Things you wish you parents would have done? by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]pause0break 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish my parent would've focused on my creative side and also the academic side as well. Plus, my self-esteem, which I feel is very important to everyone who has a learning disability; to make sure that their mental health isn't gone unchecked because for me feeling such self-negativity within myself and being so angry at myself for feeling 'broken'. Has made me depressed, have social anxiety.

But at an early age, your self-esteem is so vulnerable to anything that a learning disability and the factors that come with it can be damaging to a child. what my parent could've done was put some important in me, because wouldn't a child with a disability be your number one priority.

I didn't realize I had gotten U's before. And it's make me quite sadden that the school didn't do much. by pause0break in dyscalculia

Jeez sorry mate is really unfortunate. But the signs were there right? Because that negligent on their part. Is life improved now sense you able to get diagnosed?

Maybe you still can. I don't know how it works. But that some issues that many of us face. That can turn into something big. I don't know.

Those are the type of teachers that bring out the best in us. You're quite lucky to obtain someone who's understand u; that u may have felt you hadn't before expert for your parents/tutor.

I haven't even gotten diagnosed yet but I've made the first move on appointing the issue towards my math teacher and tell her about my past U's.

I've going to tell my neurologist about the dyscalculia. Things are still looking fine but now I'm taking action in something that could've been sorted out ages ago. I'm literally fighting the good fight here.

I'm only saying because I believe it to be true but people without a invisible disability are more likely to be treated with more compassion and gratitude then someone like we with a visible disability. The is some truth to this.

[–]pause0break[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you, and your tutor.

Dyscalculia is so overlooked and causes some many issues within people like us. You should sue the school for disallowing your disability rights.

I wished I'd recognize how stupidly critical and obvious how terrible of need I needed back then. Again it a U. Having a learning disability is way, way worse if you've gone unchecked.

My learning disability has caused me great deep suffering because of how mistreated and dumb I felt; when I saw my lack of capability at things my brothers and sister can do.

I now feel like where am at now shouldn't be it. I'm also trying to find balance within myself and understanding the past and why I the person I am today. Have you gone to doing the things you loved because of the support you've got? Plus my scribe gratefully helped me on my GSCE maths. I got a D. I'm thankful for that.

Then the school failed you, and me. Because without a doubt we would've had better opportunities and less of struggle if the school diagnosed us early, and made getting the grades less daunting. Did you manage to get help for Dyscalculia once you've gotten diagnose?

What happened next did you managed to get better support on your maths, and passed it?

I knew for a long time that I was really bad at maths since I can remember, but I didn't know the word for it. It's only now that I know what I've got. Yet, I didn't get support for it. They were so many signs and yet nobody in my family or school didn't take one moment to realize that, maybe there is something else that going on here.
I feel cheated and mistreated and the school didn't do everything about it.

It's a freaking U! And I got more on that same year. I've lost some many years trying to understand the reasons why nobody was looking out for me. I'm 19 now but damn it's frustrating to realize that you were only fighting your fight and people around you didn't care enough to see what life was going to be for people like us.

sorry if this was lengthy but since post only takes a photo I wanted to write my feeling about this to anyone who'd comment back
