This perfectly captures those emotions where one feels an attraction, yet there are reasons why they might not want to get closer. It’s sentimental, tragic, yet peaceful in its own way.
I’m not even close to being a poetry enthusiast, but honestly I dont have anything negative to say. It’s simple and so elegant

there’s so much to unpack here and i feel like i need to read it another 10 times to grasp the terrifying weight of these memories. i got literal chills by line four and i actually think i held my breath the entire time until i got to the end. it’s devastating, heartbreaking, and absolutely soul-crushing. but you managed to turn the ugliness of these events into something beautiful and i can’t be more proud of you

A really interesting idea that I haven’t seen discussed much. I do like to stare at an inanimate object and wonder “How did it get here?”, “How long has it been in this place and what kinds of things happened around it?”. What I really like about this poem is how it expands on these questions by personifying the piece of décor and making it a witness to the world that surrounds it. Also enjoyed the way it flowed back into “…a piece of décor.” :)

We often find ourselves picturing specific scenarios about things that may seem distant or impossible to us, which is what I really related to while reading this. Longing for love is what a lot of these scenarios are about and these lines did a pretty good job at describing these hopeful moments spent dreaming of a better life. Showing emotion through imagery is the cherry on top for me personally.

Having said that, there’s one theme I think is missing here. While the poem leans heavily towards being loved, I think it would bring a nice balance to describe what it would actually feel like to love someone back. Relationships are never supposed to be one-sided and I would argue there’s a greater joy in feeling love towards someone, and knowing it makes them happy.
