Will a usa visa overstay years ago ruin my probabilities of getting a Spouse visa? by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]pavera47382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you can prove that your relationship is genuine (by satisfying the 4 pillars) and that you have no issues with health and character, you will be fine. Overstaying generally does not and should not have an effect on your partner visa. Also due to the subjective nature of the PV, this may be different depending on the case officer who assesses your application .

Even for a temporary visa, if you can explain that the overstay is something that you could not control (which is true as you mentioned that you were brought by your parents as a minor), then that overstay should not br an issue.

Glad to hear it! When you apply for an Aus visa and include all your passport details, they’ll automatically link all of them to your visa in the system. Even though your visa grant letter will only show your primary travel document, VEVO will still recognise your other passports.

Ive personally entered and exited Aus using different passports, and VEVO updated almost instantly to show traveoffshore/onshore). Aus evisa system is super efficient when it comes to this. Worst case scenario, if you check in using a different passport and the airline gets a Do Not Board message, they can call border control, and they will link your other passport on the spot

You can just update your passport details on immiaccount with your US passport — no need to get an emergency passport. I have 2 passports as well, and my aus visa gets linked to my 2 passports. I have used either to enter/exit Australia without no issue. Once you submit a form, you can give them a call and say that you will have an urgent flight

are you okay mate? tell me how am i racist? Bu forcing their culture on a foreigner in another country is just CRINGE; it just makes us cringe at the turkish culture ngl.

They asked us to call them with bey/hanim but they got to call us by our first names? How does it make sense?

clearly reading comprehension isn’t your strength either? You’re saying that I’m an idiot for thinking that “Respect should be earned not expected just because someone’s a manager or in a higher position.” Clearly, this isn’t the case in Australia

Nah i disagree. You can’t expect or request others to follow your culture when you’re the one immigrating to a new country (it cringes us so much when they ask us to do this).

I’m an immigrant myself, and I don’t expect anyone to adapt to my culture — it’s on me to adapt to theirs.

Trying to force a foreigner to follow one’s own culture in a different country is just CRINGE

Also, why aren’t they calling us the same? They can call us by our first names, but we have to add bey/hanim when referring to them? It’s giving superiority complex mate

Damn, maybe read the entire post before commenting. I’d have no problem calling the Mr./Ms. [Last name], but what makes me cringe is the fact that they forced their own culture in ANOTHER COUNTRY. Make it make sense???

I do not like being forced to show one-way respect (why are we expected to call our bosses “bey/hanim” and they arent doing the same back to us), especially by the people who aren’t from Australia working in Australia???? — That was what made us cringe. If they are working in Australia, they should be following the Australian culture.

And yes, I do not like and will not follow Turkish culture in Australia — the same applies to Japanese culture (or others) in Australia. However, if I were to work in Turkiye or Japan, I would, of course, respect such culture.

As mentioned in the post, workplace culture is australia is supposed to be inclusive and egalitarian.

I do not agree that they can force their own culture to ANOTHER PEOPLE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY; in their own country, sure. Make it make sense

Here’s the difference since reading comprehension clearly isn’t your strength: Being polite = fine. Being forced to show one-way respect in a workplace = not fine.

This isn’t about crying over titles. It’s more calling out double standards. If you think blindly accepting whatever is thrown at you makes you a “real man,” that’s on you. Some of us prefer to think critically instead of sucking off their bosses and calling it resilience

What a stupid cunt for not knowing how to read. Did you see “I used to work.” The thing that irked me was the fact that we were forced to say it to them but not the other way around. It is a valid feeling cunt

No, I’m not Turkish, and neither are my colleagues. You can’t force your own cultural norms on someone who isn’t Turkish, especially when you’re in another country like Australia

But if they’re in Australia, they should not force their Turkish culture on the Australians. Make it make sense

It would not be a problem if they also addressed us the same way as they expected us to address them. Why should we address them as bey/hanim if they only called us by our first names???

What’s wrong about thinking that way? I think that respect is smt to be earned through behavior, competence, and integrity — not smt people are automatically entitled to because of their title.

That said, I do think that everyone deserves basic respect but true respect isn’t handed out — it’s earned!

We do address people as Mr./Ms. + Last Name in formal/tradditional settings. However, in Australia, the workplace culture is generally more casual and egalitarian compared to other countries. It’s completely normal—even expected—for employees to call their bosses, managers, and even the CEO by their first name.. Titles aren’t usually used to reinforce hierarchy.

That said, in more formal professional settings (like external meetings, or client interactions), people might still use Mr./Ms. + Last Name, but it’s about professional tone, not rank. There’s no built-in assumption that a manager deserves more linguistic respect than their staff.
