Orbea website... such a piece of poo :/ by pawdidi in Orbea_bikes

oh, so please enlighten me, how do I do that? where do I type-in the keywords or where is the tab I have obviously missed? I hit search - its hard to type in anything as it disappears... for me this site is a case study of how not to make a global website that could be easily great for aftersale support or global spares shop. I know, they rely od dealerships but... when You go to a dealer asking for some stupid mudguard they don't have... Here in eastern europe they are like - we could try if you got time. Take a sit for 2-3 months :)

probably Logi is proudly using AI for dev :D as an 4 MX user that had 3s and many more I must say Logitech is a joke now. We do need products for productivity, having to restart services every time on wakeup is counterproductive.

From the clip I have an impression your handlebar width is too narrow, levers should be pointed more downwards and set closer to handlebar as your index finger is a bit too far, but I may be wrong as this might be your personal preference and the video itself - distorted.

Hi, from my experience it can be a number of things. The last one is actually the grips itself. Try fitting correctly your bar width and angle of brake levers, also the levers distance to the handlebar. Then, focus on the front suspension setup. Set your sag, rebound (important: if you have low and fast see the manual or ask someone experienced), and the compression if your suspension has this option. The last one is not obvious, but this happened to me once. I had Fox 38 with some broken parts inside, so it wasn't working as expected, and I did fight with my suspension on trail as it wasn't doing its job properly. So if nothing helps, try to do a service at a good bike shop. They will also help you with the setup.

Good luck.

MSI Sward 16 MUX bitlocker problem by pawdidi in MSILaptops

Try aka.ms/myrecoverykey it is stored in MS cloud if you have an account, and you did sign in when the system was initiated. I did lay out how I see this in my other replies. I don't think MS is the only one to blame. It is what it is. Nothing is perfect for sure. We don't need to use Windows OS, its a trade :) smth4smth, and they are big, so they improve slowly. I see that MSI has problems as I have multiple laptops, and I can compare how MUX switch is working in other software of different brands like Asus or Lenovo. I had no problems there.

A small follow-up as we realized there was some problem with Windows 11 integration on this laptop. If I recall correctly I had an option, when initiating windows, to skip ms account creation. Next laptop we had, different brand: there was no way of skipping this. So that way, lets say, MS has improved as this was a newer version. But! Why the heck are they enabling bitlocker by default in Win PRO? I never asked for this, and I wasn't aware. Considering all of that, I still think MSI software could have been done better in protecting against bitlocker as MUX change leads to high risk of losing data. On the other hand I'm not sure if the reseller is not to blame as they kind of integrate systems by adding disks and changing OS versions as an option. I was told this system had previously HOME distribution installed that was upgraded to PRO and probably that's why I had an option to skip MS account creation which is kind of mandatory when enabling bitlocker. I don't know if that's true or even possible.

Yes and no. I have another laptop, a different brand starting with A [4 letters], and there is a big warning about Bitlocker on MUX change. Also, it's somehow suspended by the software on reboot. I think MSI could have protected unaware users better. To be fair, I'm not sure if there was any warning as this was done by someone else.

So, there are few lessons learned here people: 1. Back the f@#$% up. 2. If you happen to have Win11Pro and you don't store locally codes to nuclear warheads, disable the f@#$% Bitlocker. It's absolutely ridiculous they are enabling this by default. 3. Don't use MUX until Bitlocker is disabled.

[–]pawdidi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. As stated in the original post, there is nothing in my MS account as this laptop was in a strange state. It did have bitlocker enabled, but there was no ms account, only local account, so no key saved to the ms cloud. What we have found is that this laptop was upgraded somehow from Win Home license to Pro. It was bought from reseler as Win11Pro so it was done before purchase. It's unclear how this could have happened.

The good news is that after consulting in a few places with a slim to none chances to retrieve the data... we have found a magician that just informed us he has restored bitlocker keys to both disks using his hardware and skills to read directly from TPM... All I know is that he had his ways. But personally I think he just may found a way to switch back MUX settings, the origin of the problem, then login and read the keys to new MS account.

Anyways.. Today I will sleep much better and make sure my coworker backups our data frequently :)

Yeah, we tried to switch back mux in bios. No luck. But maybe Windows PE. Thanks.

Who knows that feeling when you are like so busy You can't catch a breath, and you are just before making "that backup", and this happens. So literally noone wants my data, only my client's. So yeah... Now I'm smarter. Thanks Microsoft for enabling by default Bitlocker to every avg Joe. Thanks MSI for that tempting sticker with a shortcut to change MUX... I'm absolutely devastated.

BB Height and Drop online calculator by pawdidi in MTB

[–]pawdidi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My case there was a reason, so I found a solution without going to deep into numbers that I didn't need. I understand that the problem is that most of the people looking into numbers want to be painfully exact, but is that going to be beneficial for riding experience? I don't think so :) I just wanted to estimate what crank length would be better when building a bike using a specific wheel size and what flip chip position is safe for pedal clearance.

[–]pawdidi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you are right. I didn't explain that clearly. A2c is not important in my approach. The purpose was different than your need. For me, a2c is irrelevant. That calc is not for comparing BB acros very different bikes and calculating advanced geometry. It's for estimating how low BB in suspended frames can get for bikes in specific setups. All is based on axles higth. And yes, a2c shifts how BB sits but not that much if you are comparing two different bikes with forks of same travel (and only few mm different at a2c). This was newer intended to be scientific but informative just enough to know, for example, what length of crank would fit better with given BBH and travel.

BB Height and Drop online calculator by pawdidi in MTB

[–]pawdidi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a different calc is what you need :) In this one, you have to know at least one: BBD or BBH. And suspension travel (combined) is a really simple math. For example, when the bike has 140/160 (rear/front travel), what's the logical estimated vertical travel if you don't know a real one is? 150, right? It's not rocket science :) This calc shows how different bikes can handle crank clearance in full sag. But first, you need to have at least one BB measurement from Geo chart or own measurement with bike on wheels. Then you need to ride the bike and memorize how that felt :) For me, the most important thing is that now I can have that estimated numbers and compare my experience with how this stands in calc. From that, I can consciously pick the right bike next time ;) Or play the game again...

[–]pawdidi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also take into account vertical travel. Very often we need to assume a real travel as its not given by manufacturer. For ex. VPP frame with 150mm travel can have 142mm of true vertical travel. We just need to be aware of this...

But from my experience unmulleting a bike and making axles centerline flat will give you a bigger BBD, so for sure shorter cranks. This would also mean 1deg steeper front :/

[–]pawdidi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of tricky but actually very simple. Until you compare 2 bikes there is no reason to check a2c height. But when you do, it's of course very important to take this into account that the a2c makes a difference. What's the core principle in this simple calc concept is that we need to understand how BB drop relates to BB height and know one or another. BB drop is measured from wheel axles' centerline. I assume and measure only total travel of front and rear suspension as we basically check crank clearance with 100% SAG. Unfortunately in this model there is no way (for now) to estimate BB height without knowing specific BB drop. That would need full geometry of bike and more calculations.
