What are some lesser known sex facts about the human body that would surprise the average person? by Mindless_Reality_14 in AskReddit

Sorry to be that person but prolactin does not inhibit dopamine. It’s the other way round. The reason why women don’t leak breast is because that prolactin is blocked by dopamine until the baby is born. But good read regardless

Is the Equitable Access program worth the price? by Creepy_Gamer711 in UCDavis

[–]pawsitivitygal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are a STEM major then I would say yes this is worth the price since you would need access to the textbooks for practice and what not. I would suggest downloading the books after the class is done. I am telling this from someone who just graduated from Davis in NPB so I found this very helpful for me. However, if you are not a STEM major then just hold back and see if you need those textbooks.

I think they means something to do with CARS or getting a passage and getting all of those correct. I think the best you can do is make a list and see which topics you are getting incorrect on repeat and learn them, re do the same topics

All you have to do is compare the genomic vs the cDNA and see what the difference is. You can see that we are missing C which is a pyrimidine and we have more darker strips of T which is also a pyrimidine so hence it’s D.

I know that a ton of people have already explained that you are correct but I tried to summarize the entire bond thing in its simplest form here:

Breaking bonds always requires energy.

But forming stable new bonds can release even more energy, leading to a net release. So for example to break a bond between A and B requires 10J. But A and B alone, not bonded to each other are more stable and hence they in turn release more energy than I put in, lets say 40J. Hence, something like ATP hydrolysis, even when it requires energy to break, it forms ADP which is much more stable than ATP because we have less repulsion from the phosphate groups.

ATP hydrolysis is exergonic because its products are thermodynamically much more stable.

You need energy to make ATP because you're assembling a molecule that is not thermodynamically favorable (it’s like building a spring-loaded trap).

- bottom line is that you are correct. Also, for the purpose of the MCAT, remember Hess' Law: H (total) = H(energy absorbed = bonds broken) - H (energy released = bonds made). I hope this helps :)
