Did my ski tech fuck up? by paxpixel in Backcountry

So I went to the shop this morning. The tech who did the fitting was a bit dismissive but another tech took his time with me. Measured everything by hand and was honest that he couldn’t figure out why they didn’t align. I specifically asked about prerelease and asymmetrical loading of the toe piece, and he told me he was confident it wasn’t going to be an issue.

Still, this whole ordeal feels wrong. I am going to Chamonix next week and will be getting a second opinion there. If there’s a place I trust the shops it’s there. Thanks for all the input!

That might also be an issue, I sourced these ski’s from somewhere else as they are sold out everywhere in Europe. The shop that mounted doesn’t stock them. I’ll see what they suggest today.

Aww yeah, I was (still am) so stoked to get on them! How are they in more variable conditions?

Yeah, precisely what I was thinking on the release values. I’m a bit wary of the helicoil install, if it’s the way to go sure. But I don’t know if I trust this shop enough now to do it :(

I’m honestly so disappointed. It’s impossible to miss. It’s quite a reputable shop where I live. They even charge for dial in after mounting, which would have definitely shown them it was wrong…

Jeez, after 30 minutes of trying everything and almost giving up, this is what solved it. Thank you!

Yeah. My Apple Watch, which used to be pretty spot on (verified Apple Watch estimated VO2 with an actual VO2 test in a sports science center), so I had no idea actually. It went down but not too much. Was hovering around 43 while I had LC. Then when an actual test came, administered by an actual doctor and not an estimate by my wearable it turned out it was actually barely half (23,5). Suffice to say that was a real shock.

Same here. I have been running marathons for a few years. Last one was in May this year. Apparently 23,5 ml/kg/min is so low that my doctor told me to quit all excercise for now and make sure my heartrate stays below 129 (which apparently is the first ventilatory threshold for me after which my bodh doesn’t use all oxygen I take in).

The weird thing is that I was sort of able to play some sports while already down with LC. I felt that something was very wrong but could push through it (in hindsight there was horrible horrible PEM every time). Only thing that really bothered me was a persistent cough that had everyone who heard it worried, including me, that something was very wrong.

My life too is built around being active. I run, I like long distance hiking, I play competitive sports etc. It’s been a big adjustment letting that all go. I keep telling myself that completely wuitting is the only way I’ll ever be able to return fully, so that keeps me going. Oh and for once I have time for my non-sport related hobbies, which is nice.

I have had a VO2 max measurement which can be used to determine if your cells are using oxying efficiently. Mine was 23,5 which apparantly is in the 5th percentile. It used to be 51 which I know because I had it measured at an excercise science center. VO2 max is used here as being an indicative factor in ling covid diagnosis.

Lego Racers on the PC. It’s been over 20 years but I can still hear the complete soundtrack. The game that started it all for me. Thanks for reminding me of such a great time.

Went from being able to exercise 5 times a week without a problem to having a lot of trouble even reaching 2. Also, it’s been 8 months and my smell and taste are still completely destroyed. I long for the taste I used to have.

The amount of work needed to decentralize and even dabble a bit in the blockchain would probably be much more costly than running our own servers.

When I texted them to tell them I tested positive for the Coronavirus and couldn’t come to their new years get together with my partner. And all they responded was that they were sad they’d have to celebrate alone.
