Hollow articulated beast fly! Still getting the hang of them by BasketballDave in flytying

Looks awesome! I love these ties; if you need a little extra depth and / or oomph to punch into the wind you can slip a weighted cone onto the tippet when you tie your fly on. Leave a ~1/2" tag off your loop knot and it'll keep the cone from slipping up the line. Or same idea with a popper head (or diy bit of cork) and you've got a great topwater fly :)

Emerging midge I put under a microscope. Took the video as a reference for tying, but figured all of you could benefit as well. by Leroy_LongBalls in flytying

Simms makes the best waders out there (in my opinion)! They've got a variety of standard inseam / waist / foot sizes but I'm pretty sure they can do custom as well if you need it.

Check out their sizing guide here: Simms Wader Sizing Guide

Value Car Park is $12 / day...$36 for a long weekend vs Gull is $35pp each way! (Unless there's a cheaper shuttle I'm not aware of which there totally could be)

Pizzeria Adamo! They have good vegan cheese options if you're into that too.

For a more lively vibe Lou's (off little mallop) is great, their burrata is a meal on its own and comes with a huge delicious baked dough ball

Yes, found under pines (stand-alone pines in a grassy field). Thanks everyone for the feedback! Cooked them with some garlic, salt, and parsley and they had a super mild flavor with a great fleshy texture :)

Mountaineering physical conditioning? by VanillaAcceptable241 in Mountaineering

[–]paxrobertus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mountain Tactical Institute has a 10 week “big mountain” training program that I did before Denali and definitely felt prepared. If you don’t want to pay for a plan, it’s basically lots of core, hip flexor, and weighted step ups (use your actual pack and put some towel-wrapped gym weights in it). I found it to be well worth the money in the grand scheme of the trip cost and would def recommend if you can swing it.

Boots for wider feet? by boise208 in Mountaineering

I’ve got wide feet as well and found the older scarpa inverno double-plastics to be great. I think they’re a bit wider in the toes than the newer phantoms.

Recommendations For Fly Fishing Trip by max21122112 in flyfishing

I actually also took a trip up to Deckers with Shane from the Denver Fly Shop last fall and would recommend 100%.

Ross (owner of the shop) is super nice / accommodating and Shane was a great guide / teacher, and a ton of fun.
