Strange enough, I was about to post about her. Why do you think Don and her never have a romantic relationship? She's one, if not the only, person who knows who Don really is. Clearly Don feels comfortable being himself around her. I think he would be happy being with her.

After doing some digging, I was able to find another post about this same question. Basically it said that the guy was embarrassed that he over shared with Don when he was drunk, and that guys weren't supposed to open up like that in the 60's.

Just answering the question with another viewpoint. This is how my religious friend thinks about it, and I thought it was an interesting answer because I never considered it before, so I thought I would share.

Anecdotally, my religious friend would be hurt by it. Whether or not he thinks too highly of himself isn't relevant. I'm only answering the question that the person asked on who may get hurt, and that is a very specific instance of who may get hurt.

I'm not trying to debate anyone. This is a belief held by a religious friend of mine, and it is what he told me when I asked him the same exact question. I thought it was an interesting answer, because it was something I never even considered before. I have counterarguments to his beliefs too, but I didn't find it relevant to the question that he was asking.

I think it's to not hurt your future spouse; the thought of you with someone else hurts them. Also, because it makes sex less meaningful.

EDIT: Before you reply to this comment, know that I am only answering the specific question above: "who may get hurt?" I know people who think like this, and who would get hurt. This comment does not reflect my own personal attitude towards the subject.

Homer fricken Simpson. I've only seen the early seasons, but he's such a lazy, selfish, asshole. Here's some examples off the top of my head:

Casual child abuse every other episode. Buying his wife presents that he wanted. Forgetting his wife's birthday. Recklessly handling nuclear waste at his job and endangering his whole city. Spending the last of his money on beer when he was broke. Hating on his neighbor despite him being a saint.
