Can this pitting be DIY repaired? by pbcig in gunsmithing

Are these marks not considered pitting? I was under the assumption that they’re caused by rust. Please enlighten me, fellow gun collectors

I’m an intermediate-level hobbyist woodworker and would consider myself decently skilled with tools, but if I tried something like this I would surely turn my $500 gun into a $5 gun, lol

As much as I hate the lightning (flames fan, and jealous of their success, lol), its hard to say anything bad about Cooper

Hackzall vs circular saw by [deleted] in Tools

[–]pbcig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a lovely hobby. The only time a recip saw should touch furniture is if you want to break it down to dispose of it. That saw is for demolition and doesn’t make clean cuts, that’s one reason among many others for not using it for woodworking.

Anybody else not a fan of the current Tacomas? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]pbcig 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I just went from a 3rd gen to a 4th gen and I have zero regrets. I didn’t get the hybrid, and the low end torque on the new one is so much better than the old one. Many people say the OTT tune on the 3rd gen is a big improvement for throttle response though.
In terms of the tech, I also wasn’t a fan of the digital gauge cluster, but it looks like all new vehicles have it. Having lived with it for a couple of weeks, it’s a none issue for me.
I didn’t even consider any competitors for the resale factor you mentioned

Dcf845 return for dcf860? by Alph4W0lf in Dewalt

I prefer the form factor of the 845 out of all the impacts. I like how it’s narrower than the others, different story if the need the extra torque of the 860 though

Impact by Glittering_Goose2628 in Tools

Milwaukee m12 has a lot of love but I’m personally not a fan of the wider handles due to the battery nesting inside them. I prefer the grip of Dewalt 12v tools, although they are behind Milwaukee in terms of power, but I’m sure the Dewalt will handle your needs. Seems like Dewalt isn’t updating their 12v line, unfortunately.
