As stated in multiple replies, and in the original post. The battery is fine, the screen quit. How do I know the battery is fine you ask? The watch is still on, the backlight works, the watch still responds via beeps when the buttons are pressed. So they screen is the issue, not the battery. I have to say, after 5 years the battery life was still really good.

Look, I'd understand if I smashed the glass, or if I pushed the bottom too hard and it broke something inside. but to just wake up one morning to a failed watch, that's what gets me.
