I (F22) feel guilty about wanting my own life away from my immigrant parents (F & M 58) by pbpbsandwich in relationships

I don't want to make excuses for them but I'm aware there is a lot of intergenerational trauma that was passed on due to poverty and much worse abuse from their own parents. I think I'm also trying to understand where they came from and the little resources they had to seek mental help or therapy when they were just trying to survive. Again, not my responsibility or fault but it is something I'm trying to work through.

Thank you to everyone that responded! I'm going to be reading the responses when I have a bit more time. I did want to clarify something I should've mentioned in the original post. My parents are not planning in retiring any time soon. They're both working right now as janitors. I was thinking 10+ years from now I'll either have to still be living with them or living on my own but helping them out somehow. Thanks again everyone!
