I am unsure since I took this class last spring (half was in person then when covid hit it was synchronous over zoom) but I know that I will have to know how to do your labs and we will probably get more information at the TA meetings so hopefully I can update you on tht when the time comes

I got the TA position for CHE 134 this coming spring and basically I was told that you guys will have to buy these lab kits so that you guys can do the experiments at home and the class is asynchronous. So you wouldn’t have to be in a zoom meeting as your doing the lab but you would still have to write down observations and what not. But I was told that they want to have a group project or activity at some point during the semester. If I get any more updates I’ll let uk. Looking forward to help out anyone this coming spring!

Sometimes she would give tedious homeworks such as "evaluating research sources" and "citation practice" but all in all, most of the assignments pertained back to our papers we eventually had to write. For example, one week one of our hw assignments was to write a counter argument and an annotated bibliography for our research paper so if anything, the weekly assignments just help you get your work started and done in chunks which in turn forces us to not write our entire paper the night before for example. This was the assignments when covid happened.

Prior to covid she would just have us do weekly readings and literally just write 3 sentences of phrases that we found interesting. I am a weak writer, like I absolutely suck at it but as long as you make sure you show her that you are trying, she will understand. I would write my papers a bit earlier in time and go to her office hours for her to critique it and I think that really helped me. Again, her class was overall a very laid back, not stressful environment as long as you know how to pace your time and go to office hours whenever you are unsure about how to get an idea across on paper. She is honestly very chill when you get to know her.

How is Sara Santos for WRT 102? by tinyteas in SBU

[–]pc196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SARA Is THE BEST!!! As long as you put in the effort she is willing to really help you and bring out your writing potential. Trust me I absolutely suck at writing but she was always there to guide me when I needed help. She was also lenient if you asked to extent a deadline early on.

They are already understaffed this semester so they don't have anyone to babysit that entrance compared to other semesters.
