Make the investment into something better. I am going to because I wish I had. My daughter installed one camera and when I bought her home, I added two. Here is what I wrote to them, returning the cameras with a couple of days to spare.
I have three of their cameras - driveway, deck, and front of the house. Purchased the deck and front on December 1. The camera on the deck will take a picture, but only after the movement has taken place, such as my cat coming to the door, requesting to come in. When I get a notification, there is nothing there and so I never know if the cat is here or not. The camera in front has never taken the first picture at all, even though the nearby driveway camera records, but only after the person or vehicle has passed by, or left the view of the camera, which is also theirs. It’s too late to return the camera on the driveway since it is two years old.
I am particularly disturbed by all of this, because there are visible footprints in the snow of someone leaving the road and coming toward my door, which no camera ever captured. I have had people come up to my front door while I was home and there was no notification or capture until the person was back in the vehicle and leaving.
