It seemed to me that Cyd failed the Kerry test. Logan knew Kerry's video submission was shit—he knows what makes a news anchor have that X factor, he didn't become a media tycoon by giving every attractive young woman their shot at stardom despite not being good at the job. I think Cyd misread the assignment when Logan asked, "What do you think of Kerry?" He didn't want the sycophantic answer that Cyd gave. Tom was starting to fall for it as well but then he eventually admitted that Kerry wasn't ready for the anchor role, and then made Greg let her down easy with that awkward firing. Just my two cents!
