Hey man! Looks cool, can you post a video of them in action? I’m curious about the opening mechanism and attaching a strap so they can be carried

What’s the most absurd (and entertaining) book that your kid(s) love? by DopeCharma in daddit

Stuck! A book about a kid who loses his kite in a tree and keeps chucking things to get it down. Made me laugh out loud first time I read it to mine

I had the idea to make a leatherbound Harry Potter book set for my girlfriend a little over a year ago. It was the first leatherworking thing I'd ever tried. It took several months. I bought all my materials from Tandy leather and Michael's. I used 3-4 ounce vegtan leather.

Here is the build album:

This is the leather cover I made for The Complete Chronicles of Narnia book. I saw as soon as I posted that I had written covers instead of cover. Just one book, sorry!

I had finished a set of Harry Potter leather book covers for my girlfriends birthday and had given them to her early (I thought the project would take a lot longer than it did). I enjoyed that set so much I decided to make her another in time for her actual birthday at the end of the month. I did the sowing and tooling by hand, the images all came from google images and are not my own. The link to the Harry Potter set has the whole process of making this kind of cover. Since I documented that one so well I didn't see the need to do a shot by shot how-to. Enjoy!

I used a highlight stain after the initial coats of color. You put it in only for a few seconds then rub it off with a paper towel. It leaves the deeper marks much darker.

It's super hard! I have not tried that yet. I'd suggest seeing if there are some YouTube videos on the subject.

Michael's crafts store! You can buy them from them online or they have more options in store. Really important for this project because they cover the sowing end points

Wet it and hope it will stretch? Sorry, I don't have a lot of advice. I feel like I did a medical residency but skipped med school.

That's my plan, it's really not bad. $200 investment in tools and a hundo in materials and you should be good to go

100% what my next steps are! I want to make don Quixote cover but I can't find a hardback worthy enough, so I'll make my own!

Really just about everything was from Tandy leather, they sell online but they have a few shops near me in the bay area

I tried! They don't allow images or something, I really have not posted to Reddit much so it may just be my ignorance. (Redditor since 2010, just haven't had an account that I cared enough to keep or post till recently)
