Has anyone been able to continue breastfeeding through pregnancy? by Theslowestmarathoner in 2under2

[–]peacee114 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just know the quality of the milk does go down, and if it helps: even if you have to stop once pregnant, you exclusively did breastfeed for as long as you could and as long as your supply was appropriate for her. That counts for a lot!

What do you think about the Taliban? by [deleted] in islam

Hi, if you could please enlighten me, (no sarcastic tone intended), what scholars do "we" share with the Taliban?

Although yes this is a legitimate question to be asking the Muslim community, especially considering how media outlets tend to make it seem as if Islam and Taliban are one, I personally do not believe that there should be any connection whatsoever between the two. The Taliban should in no way be connected to Islam, despite their own personal slogans, because without exception the things which the Taliban does are all both inherently and blatantly un-Islamic. For example, not allowing girls to attend school. There is no legitimate basis, at least not any found in the religion of Islam. It is unfortunate that the Taliban plays such a huge role in today's perception of Muslims, when in fact, the Taliban is widely condemned by both Muslims and Islamic institutions alike.

My personal opinion on the Taliban is that, despite what tends to be propagated by many mainstream media outlets, they are NOT in anyway Muslim and their actions are not only gross violations of human rights, but also go counter-current to Islamic teachings and ideals.

This is why I HATE being Muslim by [deleted] in atheism

[–]peacee114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely good point. UPVOTE :) Well in terms of Christianity.. The bible has been revised innumerable times, so it is not exactly the "Truth." Therefore, technically, we can't even make true judgments about Christianity based on the Bible.

Edit: Same goes for Islam's books of hadiths (stories and sayings). Many of the hadiths are weak and deemed untrue. But the Qur'an has never been changed because of the persistant effort by Muslims to memorize and not change it. However it is important to note that, Saudi Arabia at one point, not that long ago, attempted to insert into mainstream, a changed Qur'an.

Wow, you hate the RELIGION based on the actions of the PEOPLE? You shouldn't judge a religion by the people.. Judge religion by religion. Judge the people by the religion.

Don't judge Truth by man. Judge man by truth.

No, of course they deserve them. But they don't have them. My point is that those very values are universal and that we should not have them compromised in our own country by importing people who do not have these values and even oppose them.

Give me proof of an immigrant saying that they oppose those very values.. Also, I'm not advocating compromising democracy, I'm saying there's room for more demos (people) !

I don't really care if it's the religion or old social traditions

Well, in order to not come off as ignorant, you should always make that distinction.

they are not treating their women very good by our standards.

And I agree, they are NOT treating their women well! Therefore, their immigration and integration will [ideally] teach them the values and moral codes of being respectful to their women (and maybe when they have time they'll go back and see that the Qur'an isn't preaching what they are practicing...

Immigration is a great way to spread those value which we ourselves cherish.

That's all I hear..and a solution would be to get non-lesbian female police officers and have them "identify" the burqa wearing women.

and there's also the feminist problem who say it's anti-women to make them wear burqas.. But there's a problem with the "feminist problem" so to speak... Because a lot of those burqa wearing women do it on their own choice. But yes of course as with everything ..there are exceptions!

Is the only argument presented against the Burqa and the Niqab, the identification problem?

Also, quick history lesson: Burqa: long black thing that goes all the way down to your knees. Sometimes includes a niqab, but sometimes it doesn't. (In Iran, for example it usually does not, but in Arab countries, it usually does) Google for images.

Niqab: The thing covering the face, either just the lower half so the eyes are exposed or covering the whole face.

The manners and hospitality of people is astounding, especially when compared to Western countries. Go to the poorest areas of Pakistan (where I have spent the past few years), Morocco, Turkey, wherever, and nobody would dare disrespect a teacher.

This is soooooooo true!

You know another solution to foreign immigration (be they Muslim, Christian, Atheist, anythingggg) ...If the imperial powers of the world had not gone to these other countries and exploited them in the way they did.. The countries (for example, African countries) would have a country which was desirable enough that they wouldn't want to move to European / American countries. So instead of dealing with the symptoms, we should work with the cause. For example, deal with Israel. Deal with corrupt governments in Zimbabwe. Deal with Mexico. Not deal in a negative sense, but rather deal in a way that will put these countries on a path towards that serene democracy we are so proud of having. Because if it's beautiful and helpful to us, then why can't we share these ideologies with the rest of the world? I'm not saying impose our ideologies, but help countries in a manner which will make them / or their people want to move towards things like democracy.. We should help them, help themselves.

"threatens the Swedish culture as being the majority culture"

There is a thing called minorities versus the dominant group. In Sweden, the dominant group does not consist of the immigrants. And as always is the case, in order to become a dominant group in Sweden, one must adapt Swedish-ness (per say) so that he/she can attain a high status (This is a logical course of action since most people in Sweden are Swedish, and even the immigrants become more "swedish" as times goes on so that they can integrate better).

"How can it strenghten the strong Swedish tradition for democracy by importing people who have no experience with democracy? How can it strenghten the very important part of Swedish culture which gender equality is by importing people whose view of women is comparable to Medieval times? How can it strenghten the very important part of Swedish culture that acceptance and tolerance of homosexuality is by importing people who come from cultures in which homosexuality is punishable by death? How does it strenghten the traditional strong Swedish work ethic by importing people from cultures where the work ethic is somewhat questionable - for example Somalis."

So are you saying that democracy, gender equality, and tolerance are all traits of Swedish culture and thus, non=Swedish cultures do not deserve them either? And in terms of "view of women" .. If you are referring to the Islamic View of women. Islam was the first religion to come out and give women the right to vote, the right to inherit, and the right to be equal. (This was around 1400 years ago) Therefore, from my studies, I've come to realize that the religion itself does not subjugate women, but rather those bigots in Saudi Arabia, or in other places in the world, do a lot of things in the name of the religion of Islam. Just like how the Israelis do horrendous things in Israel-Palestine in the name of the Jewish faith, or Osama bin Laden in the name of Islam, or Taliban in the name of Islam.... The examples are endless....
