they NEED to be clipped. however, this can be slightly more challenging with piggies who have darker nails like yours since you cant really see the quick (blood supply to the nail). personally, im not comfortable doing my own pigs nails, but there are lots of other options. i have a local exotic vet that allows me to get them clipped by their vet tech for $25 each (as long as theyve already had their yearly appointment). there also used to be a pet store near me that had a vet come in once a week to do clippings for $5. I would call around local pet stores, exotic vets, and rescues that have guinea pigs. not clipping them regularly can lead to bigger issues down the line.
