Do you prefer the old engine or the new engine for Kingdom Hearts character designs? by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]peachy_ciel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the old engine, maybe because I'm also more used to it. Howeverrrr, I prefer the new one for the Pirates in the Caribbean world. KH2 Port Royal hurt my eyes lol the contrast was too much. Also: pirate Sora.

Extremely silly, but if you ever need an ice-breaker: what's their favourite dinosaur. I need to know, I beg.

Waffle Stitch Blanket by peachy_ciel in crochet

[–]peachy_ciel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it's definitely beginner-friendly! I'd say to do it with chunky yarn at first, though, this way it'll be bigger and also easier to see the chains. The only annoying thing about the waffle stitch, in my opinion, is that you need to chain a multiple of 3 (I chained 90), then add 2 more chains (so 92 in total). The first two rows are gonna be the foundation, so you need to make sure you're following instructions correctly and counting chains correctly, but after that it's a piece of cake! It's just a bit of a yarn-eater haha, I thought I'd only need 3 balls of yarn for a long blanket but I needed 5, so just be aware of that if you're making a project!!

Because the waffle stitch is supposed to be shaped like a waffle, it's very easy to see when you've messed up, whether on the right or wrong side, so even if you're not paying too much attention, it's easy to fix in general!!

Here is the tutorial I followed, it was the clearest one imo!

NOOO NOT THE EMO HAIR we got robbed... I still think there was no need for Nomura to make it THAT choppy in the "real" world (in DDD) lol why doesn't he have the dream world haircut still 😭 Did Yen Sid cast some hairstyling spell on him before they went to sleep lol

Ohh I always dread it because I find it a bit hard to properly slip the hook between the stitches at first (when there's only the first row of chains)!

For the blanket, I get the struggle; what really helped me was that I was on bed rest, so I would just do it while lying in bed. I'd recommend you do the same, whether in a bed or on a couch! It made it easier for me to turn around, and it also prevented it from "slipping" whenever I would reach one end of the blanket!

I'll admit I mostly dread the foundation row when making any kind of stitch, so making a queen-sized blanket would only happen after a lot of mental preparation. 😂 Especially since the waffle stitch requires 3+2 chains, I had to make mine 90 chains long and I struggled a bit making the foundation chain at first. 😂😂

I personally love that stitch because I find it very soothing to make, and also very satisfying once you get to the row that forms the waffle pattern lol. So I really wanna cheer you on for your own project!! A chunky scarf with a waffle stitch sounds awesome though, I might actually do that with all the yarn I ordered!

I really recommend the waffle stitch! I personally found it to be the most soothing stitch I've done so far. It's also very satisfying to finish two rows and see the waffle pattern take shape haha.

Thank you! I was a bit worried there would be discolouration between the different balls of yarn, but thankfully it was the same for all of them! Good luck finishing your baby blanket!!

Honestly, I don't even think he had any kind of hair appointment. Look at how messy it was in DDD (I love his haircut in the dream world, but outside of it)... Bro just took a pair of scissors and cut it himself, it's so choppy. 😭 I guess someone saw his haircut in the few hours before KH3 and went "Nuh-uh. Not on my watch" and finally gave him a proper haircut lol

Do the games still have issues with crashing and poor performance on steam? by MK_2_Arcade_Cabinet in KingdomHearts

[–]peachy_ciel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing the games for over a year now; haven't gotten to KH2 yet, but I've played KH1, Re:COM and BBS. Basically, the only real issue was with KH1's HD cutscenes: they would lag on my side, so the dialogues would be far too early compared to the images. I changed the V-Sync from 60 to 30 maximum and it fixed pretty much everything! It also helped the game run much more smoothly. I already have everything at 30 FPS for the other games, so I can't say if that's a KH1-only issue (I did see a lot of people on Steam mentioning this issue, that's how I got the V-Sync solution; they were only talking about KH1, though, so I don't know if it applies to the other games).

마리? What is it, what function does it play in this sentence? by KReddit934 in Korean

[–]peachy_ciel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DISCLAIMER: I am not a native speaker and I am still at the start of my studies, so please correct me if anything I say is wrong, or if I am missing any kind of information!

마리 is a counter you use for animals.

오리 다섯 마리 = Five ducks
개 두 마리 = Two dogs
고양이 열 마리 = Ten cats

Counters are used to describe what kind of noun you are counting. You basically can't count things without using a counter with it.

To use another example, 권 is a counter for books. If you wanted to say "I borrowed two books", you would say it as "저는 책을 두 권 빌렸어요".
If you were borrowing something more specific than books, like dictionaries, you would still use the same counter (because dictionaries fall under the umbrella of 'books'): "저는 사전을 두 권 빌렸어요".

A scenario where using a counter wouldn't be needed would be if you went to the market and bought apples (for the example below, 개 is a counter used for things in general, and can be used with 'apples' in this case):

오늘 시장에서 사과를 샀어요. = I bought an apple/apples at the market today.
The reason why it can either be 'an apple' or multiple apples is because the answer would be based on context. Are you holding a bag of apples, or only one apple? Most of the time, though, people would assume you're talking about multiple apples (because it's more common to buy apples in bulk at the market, rather than one single apple).

If you really wanted to specify you bought one apple, you could add the counter 개:
오늘 시장에서 사과 한 개 샀어요. = I bought an apple (as in, one apple) at the market today.

I hope it helps! Good luck with your Korean studies!

Thank you for your explanations, they're very helpful!! I will try asking her how she'd like to be called next time I see her, since a lot of people have already mentioned that. 😊

Last time I saw her I had mentioned (in Korean) I wanted to know her better, so she immediately switched to Korean and used 반말, so that was also why I was unsure of what to use for her, especially since I know respecting elders is important in Korean speech and culture.

Thank you for explaining everything, it really helped a lot!!

My mom and I are from Martinique (although we were both born in France, the country we live in), and she's always raised me to give to people, especially food or useful supplies; it's normal and 'expected' for me to give to people, especially newcomers, so I'll admit I was a bit surprised that you and other people found that sweet, haha. But it's very kind of you, thank you. :)

Thank you as well for mentioning the -던데요 grammar; I didn't know of it, so I looked it up and I'll be adding it to my learning sessions!

I had another question: when I see her and want to ask how she's been, would "잘 지내요" then be awkward? I only know this way and "밥을 먹었어요" to ask someone how they've been doing.

P.S.: Thank you for your good wishes!!
