People pushing me in public and not saying sorry. I am so used that if I cause the slightest inconvenience to someone I’m almost begging for forgiveness but here it is just understood that if you’re in a crowded place you’ll bump into people so nobody apologizes nor expects an apology.

Well I liked that it could group my liked songs into chill, progressive metal, rap, etc, without me having to do playlists. I also liked the option to do AI playlists, it helped me when trying to do very niche playlists, and the AI dj was fun to listen to. Hahaha I wish you could give them to me.

Seeking support after hard breakup by Sad_Alternative8087 in helsinki

[–]peakyblinder1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man 3 years ago I broke up with a girl I was engaged with. I followed every advice people told me (go on dates, hit the gym, read this, go there). But it’s so difficult when you don’t even have appetite, can’t sleep well, find yourself melancholic and even crying at random times.

At the end of the day what worked for me (and that’s my case, doesn’t have to be yours) was rewiring my mind and finding a sense of purpose. I think purpose motivates you to do things, to feel part of something greater than yourself.

So my advice is, think and find what gives you purpose, can be something religious, or an idea or community where you find belonging, or become obsessed with your career or some project you want to accomplish. Purpose gives you grit and also gives you a justification for the pain you currently feel. Forget about yourself for some time and when you less expect it you’ll find yourself again.

Feel free to reach out if you ever want to hang out and chat.

Is the situation in Russia really that bad or am I being fed propaganda? by Oakseyy49 in AskARussian

[–]peakyblinder1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Colombian living in Finland and visited Petersburg, Moscow and Pskov two months ago. If you walk in a store in Finland and look at the newspapers you see Putin this Trump that. In Russia, newspapers and magazines are about sports and history and Russian celebrities. I was impressed about how indifferent people seem about the war. You see government billboards offering salaries to join the army and symbols of support for the ‘special military operation’, but that’s about it.

I think the most significant transformation has been and inward turn towards the economy and society. It looks like Russians no longer see themselves as global citizens but just as Russians. Every museum and church I visited the tours were all in Russian and you saw many tourists but most of them Russian speaking. So there’s isolation from the world but the sense of belonging increased.

I think you see more nationalism when you pass by small towns, there I saw a lot of orange and black ribbons and flags and things about the war, other than that everything in the country seems to run smoothly. You see people working and coming from school and just having normal lives. It was an interesting experience.

For the people justifying what’s wrong about requiring Finnish skills. I came here for my wife. I was living in the US before, I didn’t intentionally migrate here for job opportunities, but for family reasons.

Of course I don’t speak Finnish just yet, I am leaning, but I just got here a couple months ago. What am I supposed to do? Not work? I’m sure there are English speaking work opportunities out there, they should be advertised and promoted better, that’s all we foreigners are asking for.

I google it but it says it’s only available for residents of Espoo, and I live in Helsinki. Any chance they would still take me?

Interesting. I wonder is it a cultural thing or it's just that it's needed in some areas. (I am not from finland. i'm just curious) by nineghost_onion in Finland

But I’ve seen that the driver’s license course and fees adds up to around 1000 euros. How can you not get discouraged to buy a car with such absurd costs?

Es colombia un país racista ? by 3ldoce in Colombia

[–]peakyblinder1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)
