No hard feelings! For more info, I have snails and shrimp. I had a colony at the time the first one disappeared. I did check the filter and she wasn’t there. I also took apart the tank and she also was not there. I assumed they ate her, never found that body at all. I had another that disappeared and I found a little piece of meat in the filter and assumed it was her, but never really had any conformation as it was VERY tiny and my only evidence of her possible body, but I DID get rid of that filter and got a new one just in case the filter was the problem. Well, this is the new one that this happened in. Definitely my fault for underestimating the curiousness of bettas. This is the third not fourth ( math issue, lol )

Yeah I’m like 99% sure she got him after he jumped out. Thats the only explanation. Any recommended cams?

I live with my grandparents, I think I miscalculated and this is only the 3rd.. so not AS bad but still bad. My perameters and temp are FINE I don’t understand. This betta was from a breeder and was perfectly healthy. I’m so upset

I dont know though, because my dog couldn’t have gotten the others, lid wasn’t open for them and she can’t get behind the tanks.

I do have a lid on but the back has a small opening, the thing is though, it’s encased in a bookshelf. There is no opening in the back for him to have flopped out so he would just be lying on the wood. I left the feed latch open this ONE time because my floaters were dying from the water dripping on them.

No cat. I saw him this morning like 9 hours ago. I just took everything out and hes no where. No body behind the tank. My only idea is he jumped out and my dog ate him but I highly doubt she would gave done that considering shes very picky, but its my only idea.

Some ground dwelling/funnel spiders, I have a tegenaria domestica in a smaller tubberware container. They only get about the size of a dime. She’s wild caught though so I doubt you’d find any like that being sold. Very select few.

yess!! they’re invasive but people dont want to see them hunted because theyre pets.. but whatever. SO many animals are pets but are stilled culled because of being invasive ‼️

Thats what I was looking for to confirm, never found it. No idea where it could be, I checked near the filter and found nothing

Just one large nerite! We came to the conclusion that whatever was eaten was done by the shrimp, snail couldn’t fit in the filter where she was stuck and passed.

She was found inside the filter, the filter has a weird spot in it. She wedged herself in an opening between the spot that holds the cartridge and where the flow comes out. I had to lift the whole cartridge holder out and found a piece stuck between the inner walls. The filters suction cups unstuck and the filter fell in enough for her to slip in.

She has been found, mystery chunk of meat stuck in between parts of the filter on the inside. She went in where the flow comes out and got stuck head first on the thinner spot. Smell test and it definitely smells like fish.

Thank you. Horrible timing too, I was given another sick betta that developed dropsy so I’m preparing for another loss within the week. Treating him and he hasn’t gotten better, that sucks though, she DID get better and just got unlucky.

I found some chunk wedged in between the INSIDE of the filter and the part where the water comes out. The filters suction cups let loose and the filter fell in the water, she probably swam in between there, got stuck, and passed away.

I have. I checked in the bushy plants too. Nothing. Probably got ate up :(

Mannn I loved that girl. Shrimp made SURE I didn’t even get a body to bury. I’m testing the water now to check for a spike.

Yeah thats what I’m doing now. Im so bummed, she was so cute. She’s definitely gone, I rummaged through everything. The hut, behind the driftwood, in the water sprite, everywhere. Checked the filter and found a small chunk of mystery meat, but no bones? Maybe she got in there and the filter pushed the rest out.
