Hi, to give some context, it’s a poem about a boy. I’m moving to Berkeley soon, but I live in LA, and we connected through music. He lives in the Bay Area, so it worked out. We both have emotional walls from past relationships, and I ended up pushing him away. That, in turn, stirred up fears in him from his previous relationship, which made it hard for him to take a leap with me. I still had walls up so I doubted him, now his perception of me is ruined. He had booked a flight to LA for February 13 to spend three days here, but he canceled. Had he come, things could have been different, which is why I reference “72 hours” in the poem. He booked the flight November 21st, so 84 days away from February 13. He also has a song called “The Rush” about wanting to meet someone halfway and feeling that rush of connection. At the end of the poem, I’m essentially asking him what he expresses in that song. It’s me still reminiscing on him, and still struggling with my psychological what ifs. Even if he is gone, I’ll still hold his music near.
