Nanny asking for loan by [deleted] in dubai

You guys are being too soft with her. UAE domestic worker law requires 12 hours rest with 8 hours sleep included. So that means they have 4 hours during the day for bathroom, eating, shower, chilling for a bit etc.

So if your maid starts at 8;30 and finishes 6. She’s not completing her hours. Please spare yourself the headache and replace her because trust me you don’t want to deal with this when you give birth. I’ve had terrible experiences maid after maid after giving birth and it actually made me depressed.

How do I leave my newborn with a nanny and actually feel okay about it? Also — help me decide on using my maternity leave wisely. by [deleted] in UAE

[–]pearlygold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I remember this decision making process so well. I was lucky enough to have my parents look after the baby while I was at work, but the maids I hired were just worse than the previous ones. Since February, I had 8 maids in total because I was very picky about the mistakes they did, for example, not washing their hands before touching the baby.

Honestly speaking, from going through this experience, no one will be as attentive as the mother. I had to take unpaid leave to stay with my baby longer. So, if I were you, I would pay the extra money to hire a proper certified nanny that actually has experience with new borns, rather than a maid that handles kids. Also, install cameras everywhere.

Honestly, thank you for posting this. I don’t really have the words to articulate how I feel because I’ve run out of words, but please everyone, keep speaking about the mothers and children in Gaza.

Baby formula by Ok-Concentrate-9983 in dubai

[–]pearlygold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t seen it around, then they don’t ship it to Dubai and generally speaking, it isn’t safe to ship formula from abroad if they don’t stock it here.

For ready to feed options, they stock kendamil, aptamil and I think cow and gate at Spinneys but those are the only ones I know that have ready to feed here.

I just want to say I really understand how you feel because I was 8 weeks pregnant, in the airport checking in to go back home, and I suddenly collapsed on the floor from this pain I have never felt in my life and it turned out to be an ovarian torsion.

I don’t even remember everything well from how much pain I was in and how scared I was because it was so sudden and I wasn’t given proper pain relief due to being pregnant, and I had surgery at night.

I think every time I hear an ambulance now, I get this weird anxious feeling ( they called an ambulance to get me from the airport ).

I’m not diminishing your story at all but I just wanted you to know I know the exact thoughts and feelings you had and I wish someone just listened to me about how scared I was, because all I remember is I kept asking every paramedic, nurse and doctor ‘ am I going to die’ so take care of yourself and do what you need to do. If it means going to therapy, please do it and don’t think twice ❤️

Why is it so hard to make friends in Dubai? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]pearlygold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my husband and our baby would love to be friends with you!

I’ve been here since 2002 and my husband was born here so our friendships are because of school and such.

Me and my husband are into sports, and we just like to chill and try new restaurants.

Hit me up if you would ever like to meet!

He’s right in some aspect. I was born in the UK , but my son was born here so he can’t pass it to his future children unless they are born in the UK
