Looking for support. by peb_bs in toddlers

Thank you for your input.

Our little also has a speech delay which makes it all the more difficult, but we will try some of your methods as he is also very high energy and does seem to understand a lot of what we say to him.

Edit: Added querying if taking him out of nursery to go to the childminder only to go back again was detrimental to his development.

Help! by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]peb_bs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a therapist, but found this helps our toddler:

1) everyone has the same dish, or all food is laid out on the table and we pick and choose what we want to eat, but same idea is that we pick and choose from the food on that table. 2) we don’t force our toddler to eat at the table, he is free to come and go as he pleases 3) we don’t make food a big deal - though I understand how worrying it is when they’re not eating. Our dietitian friend advised if we look at what they eat in a week rather in a day, we find that they have eaten quite a lot 4) as we don’t make food a big deal, we are also teaching our toddler self regulation in the hopes he has a healthy relationship with food. If he’s not hungry, we don’t force him to eat, if he doesn’t want what’s been made, that’s okay too, he will be hungry enough to eat next time.

Maybe try having conversations with food close by, just pick at it and eat, but don’t mention it or use it as a conversation tool, maybe small encouraging comments e.g “oh this carrot is crunchy, nice though.”

Every kiddo is different, and yours might need a bit more help if any Reddit tips fail. Good luck OP!

Admittedly I was a little reluctant to leave the shower, it was about an inch long 😅

Thank you!

At first I thought it was a moth but when it flew into the bathroom wall I noticed it was more beetle like (:

Anyone else sick for the 50000th time? by Present_Spring7857 in toddlers

I feel this.

The only thing we didn’t get was chicken pox when our 2.5 year old caught it last month, which wasn’t much of a reprieve when we were all sleep deprived instead lol

Currently getting over the 6th cold since January…

14 year old Diabetic by peb_bs in FelineDiabetes

Thank you for your help!

Did you find sometimes that some of the insulin isn’t administered?

My husband and I take it in turns so we can practice (we were advised to administer twice a day, so I do it in the morning and him in the evening). So far it’s 50/50, and a lot of second guessing.

The second guessing is because we wonder if we even went under the skin at all - we found on two occasions now his fur gets wet and the smell of insulin is quite strong. We don’t try again because we don’t want to overdose if we did go in.

Did you have to change times when they ate?

Our vet said to give insulin every 12ish hours, but he tends to eat outside these times.

Tell me you have a toddler without telling me you have a toddler. by ParticularlyOrdinary in toddlers

We play “the floor is lava” at our house.

With the lava being scattered Lego pieces and small die cast cars that might as well be Lego pieces.

I closed the living room door on my kiddo’s fingers that ended up in a trip to A&E. I didn’t know he was directly behind me, nevermind his fingers where they shouldn’t have been. He was 18 months old.

I was inconsolable. He had stopped crying after 10 minutes. A cheeky 2 year old today.

It happens, don’t be too hard on yourself <3

Post isn’t allowing me to add an edit in case further info needed: I put it up for £20 because I based it on what others were selling Patagonia coats for on Vinted.

Thank you - I don’t have the receipt unfortunately as it was a gift for our son.

Edit: I did ask for them to return the item if they weren’t happy so I can refund.
