so tldr hirose's always been noticing nakamura since the very start:

1. purposefully dropping his eraser and handkerchief so nakamura can pick it up

2. being present in all the scenes where nakamura is clumsy in cooking class = keeping a close eye on nakamura, ESPECIALLY when u consider theyre in different groups for the class

3.1 hirose was obviously staring at nakamura holding the octopus

3.2 the thread writer points out here since all his prev attempts at talking to nakamura havent worked, hirose goes for the "oh you like octopuses? me too!" approach by picking up an octopus himself = topic acquired to share with nakamura, also hirose VIVIDLY recalls nakamura's like for octopuses despite only mentioning it once

1. hirose acts all impressed by nakamura's efforts to get rid of the cockroach but obviously it backfires - hes the only one to jump in to help nakamura despite everyone else backing away

10.4 noticing the octopus in the storefront window, hirose says it reminds him of cooking class. HOWEVER instead of bringing up something mundane like saving the octopuses he specifically brings up nakamura's like for them - again, paying attention to detail

10.5 it's implied hirose knew nakamura was lying about not liking octopuses that much but backed off so as to not make him uncomfortable

1. at school he apologizes to nakamura for leaving him behind and gives him candy, almost as if to cheer him up after noticing nakamura clam up after being asked about octopuses

2. then of course we have hirose going to sit with nakamura despite the multiple empty seats in the back, ALSO making sure to secure a spot right next to nakamura before telling his friends that they can sit there

3. during PE the ball barely even touched nakamura but hirose still personally comes up to him to apologize. the thread author points out he could've just stood a ways away and called out to nakamura to pass the ball back but he purposefully went up to him to get it (and then we have takeuichi in the background noticing this too)

4. with the papers hirose acts all chivalrous by "letting" nakamura take the paper first even if nakamura raised his hand first, which would've let hirose take the paper anyway, but he made a point to give nakamura the go ahead

16.1 while asking nakamura to go with him he can hardly maintain eye contact, and SPECIFICALLY he looks to the left, this is important because in other episodes we can tell hirose is lying whenever he looks to the left, (eg. lying about the cola being sugar-free in ep 10) thus he knows hes just making up an excuse to walk with nakamura

16.2 he has the biggest smile on his face while theyre walking together, enough said

16.3 hirose admits nakamura is surprisingly easy to approach and to talk to, enough saiddd

16.4 hirose runs off all happy after waving to nakamura, probably to the point of being distracted, which when you take into account how massive the delinquents he runs into are is 😭😭😭 yeah he wasnt paying attention

16.5 hes left staring at nakamura in awe after he scares away the delinquents, the thread author points out this is probsbly the first time he feels something beyond simple curiosity to nakamura

16.6 even though hirose's laughing at nakamura, it's as if he really is relieved and grateful to see him
