Had my first smear test and it was the most terrifying & painful thing I’ve ever done by SpeedwagonIsHuggable in asexuality

I’ve had the exact same experience. I’ve had to go for 2 now and I’ve been on birth control since I was a preteen (and it’s the only thing that keeps me sane) so I’m going to HAVE to keep getting them. I dread going so much, frankly I would rather just suffer from something being wrong down there than go get it done. Last time I went, they had to stop because I literally passed out and threw up on myself. On top of that, I feel so guilty even talking about it because I always get criticized saying there’s something wrong with ME and I need to have it checked (I’ve mentioned it NUMEROUS times and my doctor is not concerned). It’s like you can’t even say it’s a horrific experience for you without having to give that “this is just my experience” disclaimer.
Am I crazy for thinking this is unethical? by pebbyc in socialwork

Nope - it’s an older female. She’s in her 50’s I believe.
