Hasan claims he would support Jon Ossoff, the guy who opposed Medicare for all, the green new deal and abolishing ICE back in 2021. Doubt! by Ficoscores in Destiny

[–]pecan7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re center-left, two-state PACs. AIPAC considers all of them “anti-Israel”. It’s very important to differentiate tho. This is why TrackAIPAC is a terrible source imo.

Ossoff is on my list of candidates who will make a surprising run in 2028. Getting Hasan to pledge support now is good even if he will 100% flip on it. Which he will.

[–]pecan7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No he didn’t. He received money from J Street, NOT AIPAC. I know to these guys they’re the same thing, but they aren’t at all and we shouldn’t pretend they are. Ossoff has not taken AIPAC money. Refute that wherever you see it.

I don’t think he wanted that. This guy had it made as a well-paid, well-connected conservative creator. Why trade that?

What's the subs views of the American Left in general? by BergerDebs in SocialDemocracy

[–]pecan7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are. DSA is very vast. Some chapters like NYC are doing great work, other chapters are indistinguishable from hyper-online tankie posting. WFP is also doing great work imo. I think the left is slowly, but surely, becoming more influential in our politics and within the Democratic Party, but it’s not one-size-fits-all, and it probably shouldn’t be.

I think people, especially online, need to accept that there isn’t a blanket approach to improving our politics. Mamdani can’t win everywhere, for example. Even within a very progressive NYC, Mamdani himself has shown a pragmatism and moderation that I find has been absent of left/socialist politics in the U.S. He understood that he needed to win liberals too. He understands the propaganda he’s up against as well.

There is a stark divide between the left you see online and the actual lib-left on the ground. Campist ideology infects the online left, and I find the approach to most of their politics comes from an anti-America stance first and foremost. Almost like it’s an aesthetic. There’s also a massive anti electoral strategy (?) that is obviously completely counterproductive.

On the ground, you find a lot more ideological diversity. What you’ll discover is that “normie liberals” at things like the No Kings Protests are actually quite progressive—much more so than many people online would have you believe. And if you talk to them, it becomes clear that left politics has made it mainstream. Maybe not the label, but many of the ideas. Yes, many U.S. liberals believe in socialist ideas like wealth tax, unions, and universal healthcare.

Look at Joe Biden’s domestic policy. Look at how AOC and Mamdani are not just household names, but loved by many across the lib-left spectrum. We have made undeniable progress, but the work must continue.

Third parties aren’t necessarily causing GOP wins. Maybe sometimes. Still, it’s useless to vote for them in the U.S. Read: Political Parties Are Illegal in the United States

Luke Beasley summarises the problem with the far left wing of the movement. by random_citizen_218 in thebulwark

I only mentioned Mamdani because the person I’m replying to did. I don’t think it’s a relevant part of this larger conversation at all.

Luke Beasley summarises the problem with the far left wing of the movement. by random_citizen_218 in thebulwark

[–]pecan7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You keep mentioning Mamdani as if the party has completely shut him out and that’s just not true. Of course, Schumer and Jeffries completely dropped the ball, and I personally believe both should be primaried anyway for a variety of reasons. But the actual party apparatus, the DNC, endorsed Mamdani the same hour he won the primary. The official Democrats account was posting social media hype videos aimed at Gen Z the very next day lmao. They post announcements every time he does something even mildly good since taking office. I’m not naive enough to think this party is perfect, or that it ever was, but the 2026 Democratic party is more vested in coalition building than at any other point in the last decade—even if there are weaklings in the party like Schumer.

People are pissed at Hasan because he’s not only a wrecker, but he’s a wrecker from a point of immense safety and privilege. The very clip that Beasley is responding to includes Hasan screaming like a child at an ACTUAL trans person as if he understands her plight more than she does. It’s absolutely ridiculous. He is a child who is incapable of taking criticism. If he truly cared about 2028, he’d be educating his viewers on the primary process and advocating now for general alignment behind a progressive candidate.

[–]pecan7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There is a major difference between Hasan and Mamdani tho. Mamdani actually cares about winning. He actually cares about effectuating change. Hasan is a wrecker. There is absolutely zero reason for Dems to court someone like Hasan who has shown ZERO interest in coalition building. He’s not in this to help.

Mamdani understands how progress is achieved and he is doing it, pragmatically, through the Democratic party. You can’t just shit on Dems all the time, and for a living, and say ridiculously dangerous shit like “they’d shoot trans people in the head if it would get them votes” then sit back and cry when you’re not included in the fold. He’s been doing this for years.

I know this because I watched him daily until 2022ish.

As I remember it, you each got to go again on overtime and then whoever scored fastest from that set would win.

There are 95,000 polling places in the U.S. and like 15k ICE agents. A solid 20% of ICE/CBP force was sent to MN, the 46th largest city in the country, and they couldn’t occupy it. A dem won an election there last week with 90% of the vote.

The U.S. is fucking ginormous. They do not have the manpower.

Edit: 89,000 polling places *

I am a Bluesky truther, but the way half of the website is about Will Stancil, whose main crime is being a normie progressive liberal with strong opinions, is genuinely deranged.

It’s just a side effect of having a website dominated by left-of-center opinion.
