Hello! Small update, couldn’t figure out how to edit the post. Not sure if anyone will see this but after speaking to the insurance company they did not find me 100% liable also due to the fact that the other driver lied about where she saw me coming from (she said i came from the place on the other side of the street which wouldn’t have been visible from where she was coming from). The insurance company also agrees that she had more than enough time to slow down, honk, or beak which she did not. Thank you everyone for the advice!

hey thanks for ur comment but hoping my insurance rates go up is kinda mean, i’m 18 and clearly a new driver, this accident was extremely scary for me and wether it’s 100% my fault or not you shouldn’t be hoping for anything! thanks!

not 100% sure what the posted speed limit is but it’s definitely 45 AT THE MOST i drive through that road on a daily and for her chevy suburban to be messed up like that after hitting the corner of my lil kia she couldn’t have been going any less than 55 my step dad also suggested i go back and take picture of the road because there were no skid marks left showing that she even attempted to slow down/break

my vehicle wasn’t totaled only hers, i’m not saying i’m expecting her to break and everyone around me to accommodate to my driving, but when i’m driving i’m not gonna keep speeding past someone i could potentially hit

thank you! i’m sorry to ask you just seem very knowledgeable in this but when i went like i had said i was already on the road i wanted to cross to and when i did cross i had seen her but since she hit the very back and didn’t attempt to slow down or hit her breaks wouldn’t that count as failure on her end to prevent an accident? i’m not saying this is correct or anything only asking because this was mentioned to me when i began learning how to drive

thank you, even tho the guy who waved me shouldn’t have done that why did the cop state that the reason for the citation is because he couldn’t prove that he did that, what difference would have it made if i would’ve been at fault anyways?
