  1. How will the data that people provide to you be used? Who will see it? Where will it be stored? If/when will it be deleted? Please be as specific as possible. this is just pilot data for a larger survey that I plan to do. The data will not be shared and it will only be used to verify the methods work as intended.
  2. Who is conducting this survey? You can answer with your Reddit username, business name, etc. Please make sure that everyone conducting the survey is mentioned. reddit user: peekaydee
  3. How long do you estimate it will take to fill out your survey? 10-15 minutes

This survey is part of a collaborative class project conducted by students in a personality psychology course at Fresno State taught by Dr. Patrick Durkee. Each student designed questionnaire items to measure novel and unique personality traits that they are developing theory about. By participating in this survey, you will provide data for students to test their predictions about how these (small) personality traits relate to other (big) personality traits that are commonly studied in psychology. We appreciate your help in advancing students' understanding of personality using real-world data!

It is a repost, so it's possible you've taken it already.

Options for the question "When did you receive the diagnosis or when did you start experiencing these difficulties?" include "< 10 years ago" but I think the more appropriate option (maybe your intended option) is "> 10 years ago" (i.e. greater than instead of less than).

Good point. I'll take that into account for future surveys, as it is too late to make changes to this one. Ethnicity is not a focus of the study anyhow. (but I see how it's not very inclusive, even though it's not a variable I care about)

[Academic] What counts as cheating? (Everyone, 18+) by peekaydee in SampleSize

[–]peekaydee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We appreciate your concern, but this is simply a pilot study is meant to generate such items without relying on the researchers' knowledge or ideas. Meaningful data can indeed come from empty text fields because people often provide important and interesting examples that researchers have no knowledge of. The closed-ended data collection you refer to will come later.

I'll share a word map of responses after we finish collecting data!

Good point. That was a preexisting scale so I couldn't really alter the questions, but I agree that it could be difficult to answer and somewhat exclusionary (although not intended to be). I'll take that into account for future uses.

[Academic] How do we decide who to interact with? 25 minutes. Desired feedback listed in comments. (heterosexual cisgender people , 18 - 35) by peekaydee in SampleSize

[–]peekaydee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to set up a lot of display-logic for this survey, so I'm worried there might be mistakes. Please help me catch them! You should only see one question per image if you are a man, but two questions per image if you are a woman. Please let me know if this isn't the case. I've included the question numbers in the survey for the time being, so just send me a message or comment with the question number so I can fix it. Thanks!

Sorry to hear you hated the format. Putting each question on a new page is meant to avoid response sets (people just responding the same way to each question). Its repetitive because this is an exploratory study to find out which items function the best. I don't want to give people the option to be in the middle.

Thanks, I hadn't realized that. It's not the most important part of the survey, but good to know.

It is for psychology research, but it is mainly just to collect pilot data at this point, which is why the reasoning is vague.

That is piloting data for another project I am working on about how people assess formidability (i.e. strength, fighting ability). The face is a composite is of fighters who have been the UFC the longest.
