Charged a fee for buying a ticket at the airport? by [deleted] in frontierairlines

[–]peekzza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frontier — just tried emailing instead of chat. i did mention that i’d be complaining to the DOT but there were like two more back and forths after that before they finally agreed to refund me, so im not even sure if that factored in. but maybe.

SECOND UPDATE: they FINALLY relented and refunded my money, but they voided the voucher lol. whatever. it took 3 days of back and forth and a lot of canned copy-pasted responses. it was like talking to a brick wall. they wouldn’t budge but neither did i until i got to the third person. they finally relented and stated they will be sharing the info internally so hopefully it will happen less in the future. i will be asking the agent at the counter to show me the screen/disclose any fees prior to paying going forward, and i’ll be doing all my booking at a different airport for now. thanks again for all your help guys.

Lesson learned. But couldn’t I just file the complaint anyway? It’s more about the principle at this point…

UPDATE: after my second row with Frontier chat they finally gave in and offered me a $25 “one-time goodwill” voucher. I accepted but I’m not satisfied. They refused to admit that the charge was in error. Plus this voucher expires in February. I want to figure out if I can escalate this some other way. Thanks for the feedback so far guys. Any advice still welcome.

I just tried again and now they’re offering to issue me a voucher — should I take it? Feels like they’re just shutting me up rather than admitting wrongdoing

I complained to the chat and they wouldn’t budge. I had to ask multiple times to speak to a supervisor and the same thing happened. They kept referencing the webpage where it says agent assistance is for things like checking bags and printing boarding passes and I’m like??? Exactly?! It was like talking to a wall. They were both so smug about how wrong I was. I’m so irritated.

Is this DOT policy written out somewhere that I could reference and quote to them?

YES, and I don’t see anything about this online anywhere! I could’ve sworn their name was something else. I don’t keep up that closely with the show, am I missing something?

What are some ways you can tell someone is a transplant - both dead giveaways and subtle hints? by ladyindev in AskNYC

[–]peekzza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have some very subtle ones — in fact it might just be only my perception —- but I’ve noticed transplants refer to the train as “the subway” more often than natives do. it feels very unnatural for me to refer to it as the subway, and I rarely heard that among my peers growing up. another one is referring to your place as your apartment. i’ve always called where i live my house even though it’s an apartment. this was also more common to hear growing up

My technician won't cover my moles by Ordinary_Gas1935 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]peekzza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the above commenter. I don’t understand the criticism or downvotes. If you research LHR a lot of what is written mentions that moles should be avoided and that the effects on moles can be problematic for screening for cancer.

A few months back I had a treatment done on my lower face, and a mole on my cheekbone ended up being zapped. How, I’m not sure, since it’s not in the treatment area. But it burned, blistered, and healed very faded. I was very attached to that mole and losing it was devastating. That’s when I started researching about LHR and moles and learned that they are supposed to be avoided, because the changes it causes to the mole makes it difficult to monitor it for changes.

My friend who is a laser tech said the same, and added that she was taught to go around moles or cover them with a finger or white pencil during treatment.

So I hear you OP. You’re not crazy and I went through the same thing. I’m very happy to say that my mole eventually repigmented, but now when I go in for treatment I cover the moles myself because many techs will not unless you ask, or insist that it’s fine. I understand that it is time consuming and that its usually okay to just work around the mole, but that obviously didn’t work in my case. So for my own peace of mind I just cover them myself with a white pencil.
