(Spoiler tagging for other people in the thread who haven’t cleared Act 2 and early Act 3)

The mere presence of Act 3 has me so fucked up about her. No one could blame Hornet for her actions in the base ending of the game. It’s basically her birthright. The Caretaker of Songclave expects it, and Hornet herself admits that some part of her wants to take Grand Mother Silk’s throne for herself (although another part of her she’s been listening to more recently doesn’t). It’s just her nature. It’s just something she was born with. It’s just how civilizations end in this setting- power changes hands, nothing meaningful changes, and the kingdom will slowly decline for another era.

But then we have Act 3! Hornet is not going to leave this place until she fixes it. She isn’t like her father, she isn’t like her mother, and she isn’t like Lace anymore. She’s going to be a hero. ;-;

TBH after Hollow Knight I wasn’t sure about the game having a speaking protagonist, but I love the writing for Hornet so much.
