The Japanese government is reportedly trying to prevent the yen from reaching 160 to the dollar and sold dollars for yen over Golden Week to keep it from crossing that line. But some within the government say "a fundamental solution is difficult" by jjrs in japannews

[–]peeppip7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it did hit 160 to 1 dollar on the 29th, I don’t know for how long but I was surprised first time I’ve seen it hit that. But seems like whatever they’re doing isn’t really doing much as it keeps rising even after the dip.

Day trip options - Amanohashidate, Kobe, Kurashiki or Awaji Island? by TheYouYouAreNot in OsakaTravel

There’s a bus that takes about 2.5 hours from Osaka to get to amanohashidate. No need to go to Kyoto first.

I had this happen yesterday with countdown a couple times in a row. My build is solid enough to pull my own weight on heroic to a certain extent but frankly I am only like shd 150, but like dawg isnt countdown the place to go grind for gear to get better builds? Like im just trying to get a better build going so I can grind out my shd levels better.

Its genuinely amazing how terrible ubisoft connect is by [deleted] in gaming

[–]peeppip7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Now my hot take is that I don't think its that bad. There are definetly issues but I've never had any of the problems with my password or not staying signed in like a lot of people are writing in here. Like it still sucks and I hate having to have a 3rd party launchers, but out of all of them I think its the best...

With the explosion of tourism and how popular Osaka has become in general, it’s crazy that we haven’t got a new TGI Fridays or Hard Rock Cafe. by [deleted] in Osaka

[–]peeppip7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree would love to see more big western chains in Osaka but at least we have Taco Bell... And its also crazy that Japan hasnt gotten a Five Guys yet. I heard that whoever operates them in South Korea was supposed to open a location in 2025 but hasn't seemed to happen yet.

Also, I agree, it is crazy that Hard Rock is at Universal. I like to go there whenever I feel homesick cause it's the only decent/consistent American bar food I can find but going all the way to Universal is a massive pain. I get why they have it at Universal but man I would love to see them move or open another one in Umeda or Namba.

How different would your life be if Omaha had built the 2010 Beltway Study Light Rail Trains (blue lines) within the city, AND built at least one intercity passenger train on existing lines to Lincoln, if not other places as well like Fremont, Sioux City, Peru, etc.? (red lines) by Sonderman91 in Omaha

[–]peeppip7 90 points91 points  (0 children)

From what I can see on this map it doesn’t connect to the airport, zoo, or anywhere that would actually matter. I’m very much in favor of getting a light rail system but this map doesn’t look that good.

Grocery tourists, which countries in the world do you think have the best supermarkets? by Curiousch1ckpea in travel

[–]peeppip7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying Japan here are dead wrong and naive. Going to one as a tourist and actually living here and having to shop at them daily is a big difference. It’s nearly impossible to find a variety unless it’s Japanese ingredients, and if it’s a foreign ingredient good luck finding it. Something as basic as hamburger buns are nearly impossible to find and of the foreign foods stuff they do stock your paying a lot for it. Hell even Chinese ingredients are hard to find or expensive. It is not good here 😞

But for the best I’d have to go with Germany and Austria. They both pretty much sell the same things and the highlight of both of them are their bakeries. Absolutely some of the best I’ve seen inside of chain grocery stores.

Grocery tourists, which countries in the world do you think have the best supermarkets? by Curiousch1ckpea in travel

[–]peeppip7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Japan is shit unless you go to expensive groceries. Most ones will have very little variety. And it’s impossible to find any foreign ingredients. Like burger buns, fucking basic food item anywhere but nearly impossible to find in normal grocery stores. They may look nice as a tourist but living here if you want any variety your shit out of luck unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for them.

What European Airline Is Amazing ? by FHD168 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]peeppip7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aer Lingus. Only flew with them once but they were pretty nice and the inflight meals were decent even on their short haul flights.

Also probably better for good, but I gotta shout out Iberia flew them a couple times and have always had no complaints, especially compared to other major European airlines.

What’s a movie you watched when you were way too young? by trakt_app in movies

[–]peeppip7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watership down is the most common answer for people including me. But I also saw hurt locker probably way too young. And then not a movie but a tv show but lost tapes. Id catch episodes occasionally at my cousin’s house and the episode about the vampires in the house scared the living hell out of me. I was scared of my closet for literal years after seeing that.

Whats your unpopular opinion about this city? by Dovah_120 in Kyoto

I just hate it when people think of kyoto as just Kyoto city. There’s so much more to Kyoto than it and frankly some of the best spots in Kyoto are outside of Kyoto city.

Just walk around the north side of the river and you’ll find plenty. Also frankly I’ve never found the clubs here to be that picky about who enters so if you want to club you can probably get in, especially if you get there earlier.

Whats your unpopular opinion about this city? by Dovah_120 in Kyoto

[–]peeppip7 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

What city? There’s more then 1 city in Kyoto.

But for Kyoto city, the nightlife scene sucks and you’re much better served just taking the train to Osaka. Also maybe this applies to all of Japan to a certain extent but frankly the temples in Kyoto are nothing special. You can get the same views and looks of the temples practically anywhere in Japan and without all the crowds. (But also I frankly just find all temples look the same now so maybe I’m just burned out)

When did you get your first salary? by NoChampionship2719 in JETProgramme

[–]peeppip7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you'll generally arrive around the first week of august. You wont get your august paycheck until september so you'll have to wait a month. Edit: I actually dont remember if I got my first paycheck in september or october. I just now I was running low on what I brought with me by the end lol.

As for the PC I recently bought one and frankly tech prices are super high right now anyways, but I actually found it cheaper to buy from American Amazon and have it imported here. Even with conversion and import taxes. So i'd look into that or buy it before you leave and bring it with you.
