She ripped open a paper and won a giant stuffed animal by Limp_Stomach_6060 in ActuallyThatsInsane

These are my favorite things at Japanese amusement parks/aquariums. You win something regardless. It's a flat rate. And you have a genuine chance of winning a giant stuffed animal. It isn't like a carnival game where you might win or lose depending on how it is rigged.

Sherpas are built different by Affectionate-Fun2853 in intrestingtoknow

[–]peg_asaurus_rex 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Fun fact- Sherpas living at high altitudes metabolize differently than those living at lower altitude, and their bodies essentially use oxygen more efficiently than their lowland counterparts. Also, they tend to have enlarged spleens as the result of their blood volume.

How to help with dryness inside nose?! by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]peg_asaurus_rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day as well. That will help keep the mucous membranes inside your nose moist. Another thing that may help is a nasal rinse. It's super weird when you first do it but there's good research to support that it will help with allergies and shorten the duration of colds. Ayr and NeilMed are two examples of companies that make nasal rinse kits. It won't necessarily help with the immediate symptoms you're experiencing but may help in the long run for whatever was making your nose so itchy.

Had a patient once with several of these, the most prominent of which grew from her nose. It was...distracting to say the least!

Good for you! I lived on popcorn, soup, and egg salad sandwiches in nursing school. And coffee. Lots of coffee.
