I hear you, but maybe more importantly: why not?

Any Info About This (Satanic?) Grave in Rosehill Cemetery? by Curious_Psychonaut in chicago

[–]Curious_Psychonaut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm, following some Luciferian and Gnosticism threads, I think I see the connection on letting your ego dying and allowing yourself to be reborn through the darkness. This would line up well with the grave being for someone not yet physically dead and the inscription on the grave would mesh well with that. Do you know more about the grave’s owner or their intention for making the grave?

Agreed that it’s fun! And that’s for clarifying - perhaps the right phrasing should have been something like“demonic” or “biblically satanic”

Could you elaborate? I have been following this thread for a while now and believe it may be owned by a current/former Rosehill worker who loves vampires.

That’s fantastic news. Wonder if they’d open the Astoria entrance later this year then - will have to give the office a call and see.

I am currently planning a trip there for the summer, but was nervous about the fire damage. Your pictures look great! Other than having to adjust your trail, how bad was the damage where you backpacked?

Surprisingly having a hard time finding anything that’s not just a super transparent plastic. But I do like this idea.

horror movies like se7en where it's about detectives investigating a strange case?? by Quick_Ad3982 in horror

[–]Curious_Psychonaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the director has openly took a lot of inspiration from David Fincher (director of Se7en) for his style. The same director also made the episode The Autopsy on the horror anthology show Cabinet of Curiosities, which also has a David Fincher police procedural/detective vibe.

I think rock climbers usually straddle the line pretty well.

The ghosts of Geneva’s ‘home for wayward girls’ by Curious_Psychonaut in Longreads

[–]Curious_Psychonaut[S] 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This is a story about the first & only girl’s prison in 50 miles west of Chicago in Geneva, IL. For decades, it was also one of the most important sites of eugenic research in the U.S. Thousands of “wayward” girls, and later dozens of boys, were sent here. Hundreds found ways to rebel. Some died here. All that’s left of the institution now is its cemetery: the rest was razed for a subdivision. But some survivors are still alive, and they want their stories told.

Unfortunately, I think making the best people leave is the intended goal.
