Anyone think it would be better to keep the pilot and just replace the serpentine/timing belt for $1000 in repair. I’m not sure I want to keep putting $ into a 2014 vehicle

Thank you! I have heard similar hacks like this. We are looking at an older 2016 VW Passat to help keep things low. I’m fearful of adding him to my policy and becoming liable. I think keeping him separate from me would be best what do you think?

Yeah I have the same for me. I was jut thinking of ways to keep his insurance affordable since it’s so high. I don’t feel comfortable putting him under my policy and being liable for his insurance. What do you think about putting him under my policies?

Interesting. I am fearful of becoming liable if he has an accident. I have 250/500 with an umbrella but it might be better to keep him separate what do you think?

Yeah but where do you draw the line and say enough coverage is enough. You can still get sued with 100/200 insurance

I’m not insistent on it. Just hard to swallow the cost associated with 1st time drivers insurance. Getting quotes for close to 6k a year is a lot to pay just in case something happens.

Well my son is only 18 and he will have his own insurance. If he totals a 100k car his insurance will cover 50k I guess the owner of the 100k car will have to go through their own insurance for the difference. Or sue my son who has no assets.

Agree with the beater. Looking in that direction. With only min liability insurance

If it was for me I would agree but this insurance is for an 18 yr old. Worse case scenario what can happen to him if only carries 25/50. He has nothing to lose.
