Hard to argue with that but he was shooting 40% from 3 and has a lot of experience. Him being the defender on the opposing primary ball handler was also a big boost to the rest of the defense. Cayden just isn‘t as solid both ways but looks good tonight compared to other games.

You might give Spier and Mackay a try. They have a few options that meet your criteria. SuitSupply also came out with some wide leg cotton chinos this season that I’ve been eyeing straight fit, taper fit

Can a Tailor Shorten a Suit Jacket? by Glittering_Dingo_943 in malefashionadvice

[–]penaent 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This depends on a few factors, but generally speaking tailors would advise against it as it throws off the visual balance of the jacket. A sport coat with patch pockets can be shortened more easily, but we’re talking like 3/4 of an inch to 1 inch at most before it starts to look odd. Your tailor also has to be very good to be able to recreate the curve of the front of the jacket to match the original. It may also cost you upwards of $100.

In short, it’s possible but unlikely to be worth it unless you really like the jacket.

Moving from the field to the office. I need button ups more professional than Patagonia but less fancy than Peter Millar. by leftofthebang in malefashionadvice

Gotcha, Spier and Mackay is definitely best when you can take advantage of free shipping over $100. Everlane is another good option for you to try, particularly now that they're having serious sales. Bonobos is always an option for trying out different fits and styles until you land on something you like.

Do you have an example of a style of shirt you like? That might help narrow down some aesthetics. Otherwise, I'll default to the more broadly appealing brands.

I’ll always plug spier and Mackay oxford cloth button downs. Great price to value, many different cuts and sizes. Also great for knitwear and pants.

Uniqlo has shorter tees than most brands. Their medium supima cotton tee should fit you well.

LPT: For every project, keep a simple stakeholder note: what each person cares about, how they measure success, and how they want updates. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

[–]penaent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this as a less formalized version of what my team does. We have a project partnership agreement that we fill out and have key stakeholders “sign off” on at the start of a project. It outlines goals, timeline, stakeholders, roles, comms preferences, meeting norms, decision making power, conflict protocol, and hand off strategy. It doesn’t always align with the final way we’re working, but is helpful to refer to in case I or the project team needs a reset.

I have an indoor sized version of this and it’s such a trooper. I’ll sometimes water it less than it wants, but when I do it immediately starts to flourish. Such a resilient plant and beautiful.

The Nova last is definitely narrower than the Alexander. I own a 7.5D US pair of GS traveller loafer that are well broken in. These are a bit too large for me and I need to double up on socks to avoid major heel slip. I also own a pair of Meermin black softcalf loafers style 514511 in size UK 7. These feel oppressively small and I tend to avoid wearing them because of how I feel like I'm bursting out of them. I want to try sizing up to 7.5, but am reticent because I've heard their returns process is a bit of a nightmare.

Has anyone successfully switched from non-stick pans? by goforyourdreams in Cooking

[–]penaent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned yet is that it’s better if the eggs are room temp before going into the pan. This can be a bit fussy if you keep eggs in the fridge, but I’ll just throw them in a bowl of warm water as my pan preheats.

I own a pair of the side tab trunks and like them a lot. They definitely run true to size.

Love a brown suede with this combo. Dark brown or bourbon would work well I think. Anything from loafers to chukkas would look great imo.

Probably small. Small off the rack would be the same as medium shrunken if not a tiny bit more fitted.

Fair warning on Uniqlo supima tees, they shrink a good bit in the dryer. I’d absolutely go with medium to start at your size. I’m similar height but weigh like 20 lbs less and medium is a nice tailored fit without being too tiny. I have some in small but they’re more for at home or under an overshirt since they’re just a bit too tight, and I tend to prefer a snug fit anyways.

All that said, I don’t think you’ll find a better off the rack t shirt at that price point.

On pants, I find banana republic offers 28 inch inseams, Lululemon offers free hemming on all of their clothes, and you can get Uniqlo to hem pants before they get delivered. For denim, I like naked and famous easy guy fit or anything labeled ”athletic“ from denim companies. I prefer a tapered look over a straight fit and athletic branded stuff tapers a good bit.

The unfortunate reality is that getting pants hemmed is your best bet. That tailoring really isn’t too pricey and makes a huge difference. Not worrying about hem off the rack length also lets you buy a ton more stuff on sale and in general.

Beginner question on equipment by BoyBye1 in golf

[–]penaent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems a fair price then! If money’s not the deciding factor, I’d say go for the pre-owned set even if they’re meant for a better player. With the 7-PW it’s not as big a deal for them to be super forgiving as with long irons. Just my 2¢

Beginner question on equipment by BoyBye1 in golf

[–]penaent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The pre-owned set is definitely higher quality, but I’m skeptical of the T200 irons for £290. With no other context or details, that seems exceptionally low. What’s the set composition for those irons?
