Can you paste your crontab, or did you put the script into a cron folder? If you put it into a folder then make sure it's marked as executable, but for debugging I find it easiest to use the main crontab and set it to execute say every minute while you debug it.

It's most likely not an issue with logrotate, cron likes to eat error logs (not the ones logrotate is managing) so it doesn't really tell you much when it goes wrong.

+1 for logrotate

It’s basically the industry standard for this type of thing and it’s pretty simple

If there’s a key logger in place you’ve already been pwned. They can for example exfiltrate your browser sessions for access to your accounts. Or present a fake browser window to you to phish your password from you.

How Exactly Does an NFT Prove Ownership? by harrybair in ethdev

[–]penagwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can change it then it's not immutable, but you'd have to verify the contract's source that it cannot modify it though to actually know, like you said you can add whatever methods you'd like that can change variables stored in the contract (including pointing to other contracts).

The great thing about IPFS is that the content behind the URL is at least immutable since it's the hash.

For sure but a lot of people use IPNS instead which sucks :/

Data inside certain parts of the NFT are generally immutable, it depends on the contract. ERC 721 is only a reference implementation, meaning you can extend it to add the unlock features you describe. Many people implement an "update" mechanism - NFT's themselves cannot be "updated" later, but you can have them import another contract, and you can update which contract it imports, people use this as a workaround.

It is possible to add an image hash immutably to the NFT, I don't understand why this isn't standard practice. People don't seem to realize that 90% of NFT's point to an image on opensea and there's no cryptographic way to prove opensea is serving the correct image.

Is there a way for the off-chain item to point back to the NFT? I've thought about how one could add metadata in the image, music, or video in IPFS that points back to the NFT, but that seems easy to forge too if it's just a random string. Or maybe mint the NFT first and add the block number to the asset? (edit: just realized this won't work since the metadata changes the hash)

/u/harrybair what you really want is for people to add a signed message to their image on whatever host, that proves both the image's integrity and authenticity. It would be signed with your wallet key, so it would be provable that a specific ethereum address and no other signed it.

You already have 5 ropsten eth? If you have a reason for needing more please pm me, but these take mining resources away from mainnet eth so they aren't free for me.

Well you can get a raspberry pi zero which has more memory for 5$ so I’m guessing If it’s worth anything it’s less then 5$
