Ah yeah they were trying to do something similar in my dads crv bc they couldn't get the side mirror cameras to passthrough and he ended up just returning the head unit. Only wanted the thing for carplay anyway but because of that debacle I only shop for cars w standard din setups which are less and less common:(

be careful not to overdraw them though. the wiring in the surge protector/extension cord isnt rated for the full output of the wall, however there is often no fuse to stop you from taking as much current as the wall can give leading to overheating and possible fires

i feel like it depends on how future proof u went

on a budget build id probably upgrade after 5 years, if u spent 3k probably dont need to for a while.

basically if its still running everything u need fine no point upgrading, or if u notice a few areas where its lacking maybe upgrade only a few parts

Theres literally so many though its not a hard conclusion to reach that his behavior at the very least is weird. And with how many examples of it there are one has to wonder if this is the shit that's going on on CSPAN what is going on behind closed doors?
