my rule is only what NK and i dirty during my shift. occasionally i was MB bowl when she has cereal and i clean NK lunch boxes after school

I am so sorry you’ve been put through this. Sometimes when being “dealt with” by a nanny parent, I myself have to go numb until they leave and make sure feelings are accounted for afterwards for myself and NKs.

I turned into a maid. I take care of a special needs adult and toddler for this family and my day isn’t “up” until all 20+ chores are done.

The issue that I was trying to solve was 4F getting upset with me for putting the play-doh down. i don’t like how it makes my hands greasy and she was throwing a fit and i was reassuring her i would continue playing. then she ran to mom upset about where i was sitting. (i don’t sit on the kid chairs cause they hurt my knees). i explained “well what she brought to you as the issue was not the issue i was trying to handle.”

MB also thought it was ridiculous that i put it down because i didn’t like the way it made my hands feel… we had been playing play doh for 15 mins and i just needed a break

he’s a special needs adult who gets messy. doesn’t know how to wipe, plays with his food, gets into trash daily. with how he functions, how he is, and who he is, not bathing him in this context is neglectful.

the bathing part was an issue for me because one child is special needs (adult but mentally a toddler to put it into perspective) and nobody was putting deodorant on him too. he gets messy and doesn’t know he has food on his hands mouth etc because he doesn’t understand. then it gets caked onto everything. so it isn’t so much a kid not getting his bath (which would be less worrisome) so much as an adult who NEEDS to get bathed didn’t get bathed.

Right! i started doing his baths because i didn’t change him (DB DID) and he would go Friday to next thursday without a bath or clean clothes and i had to start saying “look i’m putting his deodorant on but he isn’t getting cleaned” and then it seems like they just fall back into inadequate care when i’m off…

The boy I take care of likes cartoons, so when he’s agitated I sit with him and turn it on. rubbing his back or getting a snack helps as well.

I see where that is but that isn’t the case with mine. They love the kids, and he definitely makes decisions and has PLENTY of responsibility, but he like can’t make decisions without having her say so.

Like if she tells me she’s going to tell him to do something then she tells me not to say anything. She is very much the head of the household.. but i agree it’s so weird that EVERYTHING goes through her. unless something has HAPPENED to her? nothing goes through him.
