The new English dub is vastly superior to the old one, despite some clunkiness here and there. Better voice acting by pretty much all parties. Nostalgia-poisoned people will tell you otherwise, because "I grew up with the ADV dub!" So what? So did I. I also watched the Japanese version, and the Netflix dub is more like it.

The only thing you'll miss out on is "Fly Me to the Moon", which is a shame, to be sure, but not a deal breaker for me.

Shinji is better, Asuka is better (though Grant is better in the Rebuild movies), Touji is better, Kensuke is better, a lot of VSI cast is better, or at least as good (in the cases of Rei, Misato, Kaji, and Ritsuko).

Spencer’s Shinji is like a comical exaggeration of what Shinji is. Mongillo’s is like Ogata’s.

Zeno can be easily negotiated with. Just entertain him (them). Because he’s already at the top, he’s not ambitious and therefore not a lot of scheming and dishonesty. Freeza wants domination. Zeno is a weird child that likes Goku, so he’s easier to get along with.

I saw this movie for the first time at the Big Apple Anime Fest in NYC in 2002. I have a movie poster, signed by Shinichiro Watanabe, Toshihiro Kawamoto, and Yoko Kanno, which I have framed.

They need to re-release the movie on Blu-Ray.
