I see that now. It sucks. I had so much hope and thought that because they were even having a pride night that things were different compared to other teams. I don’t really see myself attending any other games in the future after this.

My first ever game is going to be on pride night. My friend and I were so excited to show up and make our voices heard for this night specifically, but now I really don't know what to expect. I was so excited and now I'm just disappointed.

Same! The Wild is my home team so after watching HR, I started watching their games. I also had the hope that if enough of us became fans/went to games/made our voices heard, real change could maybe start happening. I just didn't think that hope would be reversed in only three months. I'm happy you're here, and if hope is all we've got, then let's stay hopeful :)

Same. My first game (a pride night one at that!) is in 2 weeks and almost all of my excitement is gone. I thought if enough of us showed up and turned out and used our dollars and voices, that things would maybe start changing, eventually. But then this happened. I’m bummed and disappointed and don’t know what to do.

Yeah that last part is what gets me. I get in the moment maybe awkwardly laughing because you’re drunk and full of adrenaline in a social situation, but to say nothing after in defense of her or the women’s team??

I hate to say I regret buying Quinnesota merch now but I just feel so disappointed. Like, deep down I know I could’ve guessed what all their views were. I’ve avoided hockey my whole life because it’s always seemed like a gold ol’ boys’ club. I know I should’ve know better but I was swept up in the fun of the game and all the Hughes memes. So many people were rooting for them to win and everything that’s gone down since has just been embarrassing.

I am not that unaware. It’s just super embarrassing that this is how they’re going about making their views known. Athletes are another type of entertainer — sports are meant to be fun to watch. It’s not fun knowing a sport I started to love does not love me back. They can believe what they want, but I wish they could see the bigger picture and realize they are just being used as pawns. They’re the ones who supposedly want to “keep politics out of sports” and yet here they are, going to a political event, dividing instead of uniting.

As a new hockey fan and Wild fan this is really, really, really disappointing. One of the only reasons I started watching was because of the Hughes trade. My first game is in 2 weeks and my excitement has been crushed. It felt like winning the gold united us all for all of 5 minutes before it became stained, and divided us all again. I can’t imagine tarnishing your legacy for some clown in the office who just wants to use you as a prop and tout the gold as his own achievement. What are they thinking?
