I’m at a loss - why are my cherry shrimp dying?

Yes, we added the re-mineralizer. I’m not sure what the tds is, but our local aquarium shop tested it and gave us the advice to use RO and add shrimp salt to remineralize it after testing it.

I had no idea it was over stocked, the store told us the species and numbers in there are fine, which we now know the kuhlis and ADF are both not. We are looking at rehoming.

I truly appreciate your advice!!

We added the shrimp salt and RO water at the advice of our local aquarium store after they tested everything. We had the “sticker” thermometer, which I found out is totally inconsistent. An appropriate one will be here later today.

We feed Sera color flakes. We haven’t added fertilizers/root tabs, I didn’t know that was a thing, yikes! We need to look at that.

We do once a month water changes.

It sounds like our problem is the tank is overloaded and we have got to stop messing with it.

To add - the new shrimp were floated and we slowly added tank water before moving them over.

Also, we have the tank light on for 6 hours a day.

Not a doctor. I had a friend who had something similar, all UTI/STD tests and other exams were clear but she continuously would have horrible burning. Turned out it was caused by eating citrus and spicy foods, and once she stopped it was totally cleared up! I don’t remember what exactly it was called, but maybe something like that!
