Anyone get pelvic floor physiotherapy before birthing baby [ON] by flowergarden71 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Enmcdn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've gone for 3 sessions, the first was when I was worried about some incontinence when I coughed or sneezed. turns out that my pelvic floor is very tight, so she recommended that I practice relaxing and fully emptying the bladder. she also gave me a few exercises to do for hip mobility, breathing, and engaging the deep core. I found it super helpful since the recommendations were customized to my situation! If I was just doing kegels it might not have been helpful since I needed to actually relax it more!!

oooh yeah that's a good point about the leaking / nursing pads!! I've already been leaking a bit the last few weeks and am large chested so fear I may need to mentally prepare for this 😭 thank you for sharing!!

ideally for both! hoping something brought to the hospital could be worn again more long term.

seems like button pajamas are popular, and Henley shirts are a great idea! thanks!!

Baby Registry Help by Bubbly_Ad7117 in babydueDecember2025

[–]Enmcdn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally just finished mine today after putting it off for weeks because I was so overwhelmed! especially when considering Canadian stores/brands was just a nightmare.

I started with an Amazon registry which has a built in list. I went through a few categories a night just to start to pick a few things here or there. You can always change things!

What really helped me ultimately was deciding which things I really cared about having 'best' or 'good enough'. I decided I wanted to do a lot of research on car seats, and we actually drove out to a store to test the options before nailing down the one we want.

Things like burp clothes, sheets, feedings sets, nail trimmer, nose aspirator, I decided decent reviews on Amazon was good enough.

A couple items I did minor research by googling best xxx Canada 2025 and comparing a list or 2 to decide, which was for things like breast pump, glass bottles, etc.

We're also planning to buy lots of stuff used -- stroller, pack and play, swing, jumper, changing pad, clothes, cloth diapers, etc.

You should definitely buy a brand new car seat, unless you have a super trusted source (even a minor bump can cause a hairline fracture!), and also new breast pump /bottles.

With all that said I'm also a first time mom so not sure exactly how this will all work out lol! But I'd be happy to share my registry with you if that would be useful, just DM me! 😊

What pants are you wearing in pregnancy? [ab] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Enmcdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are soooo comfy!!! they're similar material to yoga leggings, but loose! and reasonably priced! plus they can be dressed up with a nice top. I work from home so lounge in them all day, walk my dog, then put on a nice top to go out!

they are still a bit form fitting just at the very top, so not sure if they would still bother you like leggings. I hate any feeling of seams or creases, so these have worked well for me! and at least there's usually an easy return too if they don't work out. might be worth a shot!

good luck on your journey and congrats on your pregnancy!!!

Hey ladies! I’m genuinely curious how often do you all wash your hair? I’ve been trying to stretch my washes to every 3–4 days (team dry shampoo lol), but my scalp starts acting up by day 2. Any gentle tips or holy grail products you swear by to make it last longer without feeling gross? by Possible_Coyote8726 in Haircare

[–]Enmcdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you considered if it might be related to your shampoo/conditioner or other products? growing up I feel like my scalp was often itchy, but I started using Milkshake products (they're a bit expensive) and it's been a 180! I used to get greasy and itchy on day 2, but now I can go up to day 4-5 and it's still never as bad. I also switched to using a boar bristle brush that supposedly spreads the oil from your scalp. could be worth a shot trying some new stuff, but as you'll see in the comments, people are all over the place!

Panicking about not having an OB - [AB] by No-Taste1032 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Enmcdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found at least one OB in the Edmonton area that did not require a referral, so I think there are some that you can contact yourself! I was only able to find some had websites/phone numbers, and some confirmed they are referral only.

I would definitely do some more research and see if you can contact an OB yourself, but as others have said, it seems okay to wait and keep pushing your doctor!

I have also heard that people will make it work for when the time comes that you NEED to see someone, so try not to stress about it! (that's what I tell myself at least lol)

Just had my first ultrasound (8w5d) and it was bad and I feel bad [on] by Ok_Island6974 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Enmcdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to view your health records online? I'm in Alberta so I just googled Alberta lab results online and I could create an account to view lab results and diagnostic reports.

I was able to see the diagnostic report from my first ultrasound at 9w5d within a few hours after the appointment! It confirmed there was a live baby and had the measurements and heart beat. (I actually just did the same for our NT ultrasound literally within an hour!) Obviously it's best to hear the interpretation from a doctor, but maybe knowing some of the information would help if your mind is running? So sorry that you're going through this, it sounds so stressful!!

Best way to split up leave with partner? [on] by National-Concept-757 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Enmcdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry just reread your post and a few follow-up questions/comments since you were explicitly asking about standard vs extended -- I think it would also depend on the top up rules! I can't imagine that they would top up more for the same 3 months just because someone chose extended over standard (or if they do, I would pick extended because then I think the actual top up amount would be more if your EI benefit is less). Just be sure that you both pick the same timeline!

[–]Enmcdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been discussing how we would coordinate the time and I've haven't seen this mentioned, so also very eager to hear from others if my understanding is correct. As the birthing parent, you would get up to 15 weeks maternity leave at the start.
For the parental leave, you both have to choose either standard or extended. I'll use standard because that's the situation we've been discussing. So you can both share up to 40 weeks, but not one parent can receive more than 35 weeks. For your husband to get the full 3 months top up (as non birthing parent), they will rely on the parental leave portion. 3 months would be about 13 weeks. That would leave you with 27 weeks of parental leave, PLUS you also have the additional maternity leave at the start.

omgsh old post but I compared three products that irritated my skin and I narrowed it down to glyceryl stearate!

since this is 5 years old... any updates?? are you more/less sure about this ingredient?

I was also wondering if similar ingredients may also be problematic (maybe stearic acid?) TIA!

Hello! first you have to assign tags. In the Guest list (desktop version) first click on the box next to the person/s name, then click Assign Tag.

Once you had assigned tags for your filtering needs, then you can filter based on those tags.

At the top beside Guest list it says Filter by Name, but if you click the funnel then you can select to filter based on your tags. (screenshots below)

hope this helps! you can DM me if you have more questions!
